BIS Houston Students Exemplify Holiday Spirit Through Service and Giving

This holiday season, students at the BIS Houston have truly exemplified the power of community action and service, raising over $30,000 for a variety of impactful outreach projects. Through their efforts, students have contributed to numerous causes, including UNICEF ($2,593), The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program (over $20,000), the Tanzania service expedition, Susan G Comen ($3338), the Charity Book and Share the Holidays with Westlake Fire Department, Houston Food Bank and ABC13, and the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF fundraiser. In doing so, they have showcased the core values of BIS Houston: leadership, compassion, and a commitment to global citizenship.

At BIS Houston, we know that education has the power to change the world, which is why we help our students develop the creativity and resilience they need to make the world a better place. Students actively embrace opportunities to give back, making a tangible difference both locally and globally. Their dedication to service projects highlights the importance of academic achievement as well as the ability to open doors and walk through them to thrive—and to help others thrive in the process.

This holiday season’s fundraising initiatives underscore the powerful role our students play in creating positive change. By working alongside organizations like UNICEF and The Salvation Army, and organizing local food and book drives, they’ve shown that even young people can be powerful delegates to make a difference.

A standout initiative this year was BIS Houston's record-breaking blood drive with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. The students’ efforts resulted in 44 donors, 47 donations, and potentially saved 132 lives! This selfless holiday endeavor, which began benefiting hospitals from Thanksgiving Day, highlights the remarkable impact students can have when they come together to support a worthy cause.

These student-led projects are a reminder that BIS Houston not only provides a global education for the future, they are shaping a generation of creative and resilient global citizens - a generation that will change our world for the better.

"There’s no limit to what our students can achieve. Because of our student-centred approach and balanced support, they’re thriving now and will continue to thrive in the future. BIS Houston empowers young people to earn high academic outcomes and successfully contribute to the world." Barrie Scrymgeour, Principal, BIS Houston

BIS Houston is incredibly proud of the impressive efforts our students continue to make, and we look forward to their ongoing commitment to giving back in the months and years to come, making a global impact.
