Students played tribute with a special assembly with a performance by the Secondary Vocal Club and students gave speeches around the Queen’s legacy, led by Head of Secondary Mrs Morgan.
After the assembly, a Scottish bagpiper led all BIS Houston students outside to plant an oak tree in memory of Her Majesty.
Principal Scrymgeour, accompanied by the entire school community planted an oak tree, in front of the school, in the Queen’s memory. Students and faculty also had the opportunity to leave flowers by the tree to commemorate the life of the Queen. It was a time of reflection and celebration of the Queen’s extraordinary reign. In addition, our community listened to a bagpiper's lament, sung the National Anthem and there was a moment of reflection to complete the event.
A book of condolence to be sent to Buckingham Palace was also available to sign at main reception to show the support of the BIS Houston community.
