BIS Houston is proud to announce Class of 2020 Graduate, Alex, has been accepted to study History and Politics at Balliol College, Oxford.
University of Oxford remains Number One in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, retaining the top spot for the 5th consecutive year. It is one of the world's oldest and most prestigious academic institutions in the world.
Balliol has long enjoyed an outstanding reputation. The College has produced a succession of British prime ministers and politicians: H.H. Asquith, Harold Macmillan, Edward Heath, Denis Healey, Roy Jenkins and, more recently, Boris Johnson all studied at Balliol. But Politics at Balliol, like the College as a whole, is also notable for its international character, and for its interest in global or international issues.
There is no limit to what our students at The British International School of Houston can achieve. Meet Alex:
Being born in London to a Mexican father and an American mother, I have grown up with the spirit of multiculturalism central to my life, making BIS Houston a natural fit for me. I have thrived in an environment that fosters learning, creativity, and well-roundedness. While I strive to always maintain good grades, I also enjoy learning in many ways and exploring my interests in things like photography, music, Scouting, and basketball. I am also the president of the Interact service club, and a member of the Model UN club, the Student Investors club, and the Mock Trial club. I love my school, and honoured to be a recipient of the BIS Houston IB scholarship.

- In Year 12 Alex was selected to Share Ideas on the World Stage. As part of Nord Anglia Education’s collaboration with UNICEF, Alex was selected as a student ambassador from our NAE schools around the world to visit and represent BIS Houston in New York over the summer to demonstrate how our schools are working to meet the United Nation’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
