The Nord Anglia Education Performing Arts Festival is an exciting 5-day programme packed with musical rehearsals, workshops, activities, performances and the chance to make new friends from Nord Anglia’s schools across the region. The programme enables our students to thrive in an atmosphere of music, creativity, and teamwork.
Our students rehearsed and performed in one of our festival ensembles: Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Band, String Orchestra, Senior Choir, Junior Choir, or Festival Orchestra. Our students learnt from renowned educators and artists affiliated with The Juilliard School and the trip culminated in a performance at the New World Center in Miami.
Here, our students, share what made this festival so special for them.
I was one of the students who went on the Nord Anglia Music Festival trip this March. In my opinion, it was an amazing experience; we met with some extremely experienced musicians from the Juilliard School, played music in full size bands conducted by those said musicians, took part in workshops, went to several classical concerts (including the Buffalo Phil Harmonic) and finally, we performed in the New World Center on Miami Beach. This trip was truly brilliant, and I would recommend it to anyone with experience in the arts.
The Nord Anglia Music Festival in Florida was overall, a great opportunity from all perspectives. Throughout the trip, we got the opportunity to practice and learn new musical techniques with Julliard specialists, which, after playing my instrument after, found helped develop my skills as a musician. In addition to this, the final performance and preparation that was completed leading up to this allowed me to experience playing within a large ensemble, something that was not available previously. In these preparation sessions, I got to meet students from across The Americas in which skills were passed between. Finally, the activities that were organized as part of the trip, specifically the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra were a great opportunity to experience professional playing as well as have both a musically beneficial and enjoyable trip.
A once in a lifetime experience!
