Last week was certainly a very busy one! It was great to see so much happening around the school.
SusSTEAMability Week in Primary School proved to be both inspirational and educational. Each year group spearheaded projects highlighting the need for us all to be more sustainable in our mindset and approach to our daily habits and routines. Certainly, there have been lots of discussions about this important topic, and it is clear that our student body wants our school community to move forward with becoming more carbon-neutral. We shall be continuing this discussion within different areas of the school to ensure coordinated actions can take place towards achieving this ultimate goal.
It was a fantastic experience that all the staff and students enjoyed. Students got involved in a wide range of sustainable projects, such as looking at our food & paper waste and how we can try to make a difference with our learning. Students created some amazing projects and conducted fascinating research into our recycling habits. All the work can be seen in front of the Primary School Office for the remainder of the week. Thank you to the students and teachers for creating a wonderful learning environment, see some of their additional comments below.
Mr James - STEAM Coordinator
Year 2 embarked on a remarkable journey to tackle the issue of unwanted clothes by emphasising their reuse and recycling. The children explored various ways to breathe new life into these garments, diverting them from landfills and incinerators.
Their study of fast fashion and its environmental impact highlighted the alarming water consumption within the clothing manufacturing process. The realisation that a single T-shirt requires 2700 litres of water was a shock to them and they needed to think about sustainable alternatives. The children also looked at the negative effects of cotton monoculture, such as pesticide use and environmental pollution.
The children explored ways to donate old clothes to Bangkok Community Help and also transform them into toys, cushions or woven mats. Year 2's advocacy for clothing donation and repurposing as cleaning rags serves as an inspiration to our STA community.

I am delighted to congratulate two of our Year 9 students who entered the recent NAE Global MIT Steam challenge. Carina and Pun Pun entered this competition videoing themselves as they moved through the different stages of their design process to create excellent models.
Last Friday, the STA Primary campus was transformed into a celebration of all things maths! The day was packed with engaging, hands-on activities across all year groups, making maths truly come alive for our students.
Senior student at St Andrews Bangkok, Pun (Year 13), devises an innovative solution for effective waste management. Recently, he completed an ambitious project: an AI-powered waste sorting system. After much research and testing, he got the system to work and put the model to use in one of our rooms at school!
