It was a very busy week in the High School last week, with our International Award Bronze and Silver Adventurous Journey, International Day on Friday and then the return of Marlins Mayhem over the weekend.
The International Award students really showed their teamwork, working outside their comfort zone and creating new friendships in some difficult situations. They did exceptionally well navigating their way around some tough routes, making mistakes but then working as a team to overcome them.
All these students have now passed the Adventurous Journey section of the Award, and once they have all finished their logs for each of the other three sections (Skills, Physical and Voluntary) they will be awarded their certificates and pin badges. We will share some reflections for the students in next week’s Newsletter.
International Day is always one of the highlights of the School year, and last Friday was a very special day in the High School and a fantastic celebration of our global community.
Thank you again to the PTG, the 32 Country Reps and all those parents worked so hard to provide the amazing International Buffet Lunch.
A group of Senior Studies students were working as journalists throughout the day, and we will be sharing their work soon. You can see lots of photos of the day in this Gallery and we will share videos shortly.
Finally, over the weekend we hosted Marlins Mayhem, with over 350 swimmers from 10 different schools competing on Saturday and Sunday morning, and a lovely atmosphere around the High School.
Congratulations to all of our swimmers, both for their individual performances and for winning the Team Trophy! Marlins Mayhem really was Back with a splash!
The team photo above shows our Estates and Events Teams - neither International Day or the Marlins Mayhem could have happened without all of their hard work, and they are all definitely Champions too!
On Friday 28th October, another St Andrews tradition returns with our KS3 (Years 7-9) Halloween Party. As always, this event is organised by our Year 12 students, with any remaining funds supporting one of our Service partners, The Foundation for the Better Life of Children, which provides education and opportunities to underprivileged children.
Please can parents of those KS3 (Years 7-9) students attending the Halloween Party ensure both that their son/daughter leaves school between the end of school and the beginning of the Halloween Party at 6pm, and that they are collected promptly at 9pm.
Older students will also be able to enter the Halloween spirit, as Friday 28th October is also a Halloween Non-Uniform Day, with students paying 50 baht and all proceeds also being donated to The Foundation for the Better Life of Children.
Our Year 12 CAS students would like to invite you to participate in our Annual Christmas Charity Appeal in association with The Giving Tree, an organisation which collects a donation of Christmas gift bags for Karen children living in the North Thailand Mountains (Tha Song Yang District).
These children live among less privileged families and communities and each year these gift bags - sent from you - bring the children great joy!
There are now only a few gift bags still available - please sign up using this Google Form.
You can view all the School's live Google Calendars, and add our calendars to your personal Google Calendar, via Moodle.
