Taking place this week, we have the International Baccalaureate Visual Arts Exhibition and Music Recital as our Senior students head into the final lead-in for their IB examinations. Coming up, we have a PTG Coffee Morning on the 24th of March, and in Term 3, we invite a consultant from the Education Development Trust to work alongside our staff.
2022/23 Survey
Each year during Term 2 we begin to assemble our classes and tutor groups for next academic year. To help us with these plans, we would like to ask if your family will be returning to St Andrews next academic year (2022/2023). We understand that your own plans may be uncertain at the present time, but we appreciate your support and cooperation in completing this survey to the best of your ability. Our Senior students in Year 13 head into the final lead-in for their IB Diploma Programme examinations, which occur in the first few weeks of Term 3. With only three and half weeks until the Songkran vacation, they have a lot to do during this final revision period, in addition to completing the different requirements of each course. Two highlights taking place during this period every year have always been the International Baccalaureate Visual Arts Exhibition presented by Year 13 Visual Arts students and the IB Music Recital. Both of these will take place this week. I am certainly looking forward to seeing the imaginative and inspirational artwork that will be presented across a broad range of media. The IB Music Recital which showcases our Senior students' wonderfully creative and highly technical musical talents is also something not to be missed.
I know you will join me in wishing all our Senior students all the best in their final weeks of hard work and revision in preparation for their final examinations and their Graduation as the Class of 2022 next term.
Our school is fully internationally accredited by The Education Development Trust (EDT), a major UK organisation providing in-depth inspections and high-quality accreditation services, both in England and internationally. We have been with this organisation for over 10 years and have continued to work with their consultant - Sally Lane - throughout the pandemic, seeking her advice where appropriate. When a full team last visited our school, St Andrews was deemed to be outstanding in all of the areas they reviewed against our self evaluation report.
Sally Lane - the Education Development Trust consultant - shall visit our school in Term 3, along with a colleague, for a light touch accreditation visit. Our senior team has been working with staff across the school over the last few months putting together a report on the key areas that have needed to be addressed as we emerge from online learning and return to a fully open school. It will be truly beneficial to have this experienced pair of education consultants in school talking with staff right across both campuses to ensure that we have maintained the high standards of operation that the EDT accreditation body expects.
On Thursday 24th March, the Parent Teacher Group (PTG) will be hosting a Coffee Morning starting at 8 am in the Primary Sports Hall. A sign up sheet will soon be sent out for anyone interested in getting involved. The PTG helps organise a whole range of school activities that make rewarding experiences for both our children and older students, while also offering fantastic opportunities for parents in our school community to get to know each other. We will be particularly looking for parent volunteers to join our PTG so we can start to plan the next 18 months of activities as we shift into the post pandemic world and get back to a much more normal way of hosting and organising events both at school and in external venues around Bangkok.
The meeting will start with a brief presentation about the role of the PTG, followed by a chance to ask questions and look at ways you can get involved. I hope you can please make time to attend.
We are currently coordinating vaccination opportunities for 5 to 11 year old children (paediatric dose of 10 mcg - Pfizer orange cap). The government distributes allocations to hospitals, the hospitals inform the school of the number of available shots, and then we email the families who have consented to being contacted with opportunities for their children.
Please be sure to update your consent/vaccination status for each of your 5-11 year old children via the Health App if you wish to be contacted for future opportunities. Please note that each allocation is limited in number and that the hospitals have been asked to initially invite the older year groups.
As some families have managed to receive a vaccination for their child directly through their home hospitals, we kindly ask you to update your child’s vaccination status via the Health App so that another student might make use of any upcoming allocation. We thank you for your cooperation.
Please contact health@standrews.ac.th if your 12 to 18 year old child has not yet received a vaccination and you would like to organise a first shot for them. Please note that the student needs to meet the following eligibility criteria:
Over the last few weeks more and more cars have been parking in Soi 20 to the point that several families living in this area have complained that their driveways have been blocked by cars. The only families using the gate on Soi 20 should be those who come to school on the shuttle bus or live in the area of Soi 20. Please do not park on these streets as the local police have been informed and will be wheel locking cars found parked in this area.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in this matter.
