Mr Brett in Machu Pichu, Peru, a popular tourist destination. A Unesco World Heritage Site and Natural Wonder of the World.

My journey to Thailand initially was to work within the travel industry. I started as a Business Manager running the day tours company Urban Adventures. Sadly Covid 19 closed the borders, and international tourism stopped. As a parent of two boys at STA, I had discussions about the potential to launch a BTEC programme and was excited at the prospect of being involved. In Australia, I had previously taught vocational courses in travel and tourism, business and marketing. I come to STA with a Masters in Tourism Management, a Bachelors degree in Business Marketing, and over 20 years of international experience in the travel industry. I am excited to teach the BTEC programme and give the students a hands-on practical introduction to Travel and Tourism, and Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.

As an adventurous soul, I love the excitement Bangkok provides and the opportunities Thailand offers to escape to fantastic beaches on a whim.

BTEC at St Andrews

Through the BTEC programme, I am really excited to enable St Andrews students to have real-life experiences and connect students with guest speakers and practical work experiences in Bangkok.

I am looking forward to meeting all the students personally and getting to know everyone, and when tourism reopens so, I can share even more of my love for the travel and tourism industry with the students.

The stand out impression of St Andrews international school was the warm feeling you get when you enter the school. Teachers, students and parents exhume a sense of family. Personally, I also enjoy the sustainable principles that STA believes in and the great initiatives that the school develops for the school community to be involved in. I hope to work with the EcoBeasts team to foster sustainable business initiatives that the BTEC students can participate in as part of their courses.

A fun fact about you: I worked as a surf instructor for two summers on Bondi Beach, Australia.
