St Andrews International School Bangkok was represented at a wide range of BISAC tournaments this weekend. Catch up on all of the results and take a look ahead at some important events ahead in what will be a very busy month of November.
We had a busy day on Saturday attending the four separate championships across Bangkok. All of our teams were at the Cup tournaments for the top six teams in BISAC and our players did us proud, working hard, showing their technical proficiency and performing well as teammates.
The U13G, U15B and U15G all made the finals, with the U13G and U15B winning well to be crowned BISAC Champions! This is a great achievement in our first full BISAC year.
We now move on to the Varsity season, whilst the U13s and U15s aim for FOBISIA, our Flames 3on3 and the Phuket 3on3 between now and March. The U15s will also be involved in the FNG#2, taking place in February!
The U15G went into their Cup competition on the back of two great wins last week. They performed well in the hot conditions, finishing a very admirable 3rd in their first-ever BISAC tournament.
November is a busy month for us with several major events taking place:
We also have a huge variety of sporting fixtures covering football, rugby, basketball, swimming and tennis.
Thank you to everyone who has signed up for our next Community Sports Day on Saturday 10 November. We’re looking forward to another fun afternoon of social sport, supported by our amazing PTG.
The tennis courts will be open for informal use. If you want to come and play, please feel free to join. We’ve already had some enquiries about playing and we’ll make sure that there are balls for you to play with.
We have entered our U13B Blaze and Varsity Boys Blaze teams into the TISAC Tournaments coming soon. This will be a great chance to offer competitive opportunities for more of our ballers. We hope that they enjoy the experience!
We’ll next be heading for BISAC Season 2: U13/U15 Football, Varsity & JV Basketball, Varsity Rugby & Tennis. Some of our Blaze teams will be entered in the TISAC Basketball tournaments.
We’ve made an exciting change to the way that we group the students in PE. This will allow them all to enjoy mixed ability and gender groups, as well as a broad range of activities throughout the year.
The students will be in one of 6 groups, selected alphabetically. This has mixed them up and gives them a chance to socialise with students who may not be in their tutor group. They will remain in these groups for the remainder of the year, with one teacher responsible for them.
They will then enjoy a range of activities including different invasion games (basketball, football, rugby for example); net games (e.g. badminton, volleyball); striking games (e.g. softball) and fitness activities.
The focus in PE will remain on students not only developing sport & activity specific skills, but also on a whole range of skills that will enable them to be lifelong learners. At the heart of all this is a hope that our students also develop a love of being active and healthy!
Well done to our U13 Tennis players who competed in their BISAC Team competition this weekend. Our Boys finished 1st place in the Plate and our Girls placed 5th in the Cup. Below are reflections from some of our players:
