Well done to the children and staff in our squads and PE Department for all your hard work. St Andrews International School Bangkok has now been recognised as a school with a fantastic sports programme and also a school who can compete at the highest level in Bangkok.
Over the past few years our sports programme has changed and developed to the next level. From next year we will be official members of BISAC. For Primary Sport it means we will be competing in more sporting events throughout the year. This will give more opportunities for our children in sports like athletics, gymnastics, teeball and also football, basketball and swimming. We will also remain part of TISAC in which our Primary development squads (B, C, D) will compete. This is a very exciting development and will give more opportunities for our children to compete for STA.
We have a busy week of sport ahead of us with fixtures for basketball, football and teeball. Plus our FOBISIA team have their last track training session on Wednesday with the Games edging closer and closer. This year’s FOBISIA Games is held at the Thanyapura Sports Resort and is the first Games in which STA will compete as an ‘A’ school. An ‘A’ school is a school that has been recognised as being a school that has an outstanding sports programme and has athletes that year in year out produce a high level of performance. It is a great opportunity for our children to compete against some of the best young athletes in Asia.
As Year 6 are spending the week at High School for Project Week, please see the information below regarding transport arrangements for training.

We had our final game practice before the FOBISIA Games on Monday. Our boys are looking in great shape for the Games and should feel confident going into their final sporting tournament of the year. Competition will be high as they found out playing both Alice Smith and BISP at the Phuket football tournament in November last year. But it is their chance to show how much progress they have made. This is the same for our U11 girls who will play Tanglin, the team that knocked them out on penalties at the Phuket tournament. But our girls are ready!
We have our final athletics training @ Ramkhamhaeng University Track on Wednesday 23 May. These sessions have been a valuable experience for our athletes and great preparation for the FOBISIA Games. For their last session will will be going over their preparations for the actual day from the moment we get to the track. Also, the children will work on their relays and their individual events. Along with this we will continue to have our daily practice of the throwing events in the sports hall from 10-10.20 a.m.
Extra teeball practice is every Monday from 12.40-1.10pm.
Below is the kit list required for the FOBISIA Games .

If you have any questions please email Mr Damon.
We hope you may have had a chance to look at our news Sports portal, where we are already posting fixtures, team sheets, photos etc for our busy sports schedule. You may access it using this link.
The site is open for players and parents alike to check rosters, schedules etc. It is a great tool for communication between coaches, players and parents, though unlike the current system, the emphasis will be on parents and players to be proactive in checking the site, rather than awaiting emails from coaches!
We will still need to communicate via email for transport requirements for the time being.
Mr. Ollie presented the new system to the High School students in early March so that they may get to know it. He’ll recommend to them that they show it to you too, in case you’re interested.
We recommend that you visit the site and familiarise yourself with it. If you have any feedback, please let either Mr Damon or Mr Ollie know.
By August, we hope everyone will be ready to use SOCS to follow the action!
Our Saturday programme continues to grow and it is great seeing so many of our STA children coming to school to enjoy playing sport together.
On Saturday we had our very first Saturday football. Close to 60 children were at STA on Saturday to enjoy playing football. In case of bad weather, training will continue in the Red Room.
Due to a recent development, Saturday Football on the 16 June cannot take place so it will change to 19 May. I will confirm this in an email.
Our Open basketball and Flames Academy sessions continue to grow with many children enjoying the game and being coached at a high level of basketball.
If you would like to know more about our Saturday programme please email Mr Damon.
