One outstanding Primary School student has been selected for the Thai National Golf Team plus a look-back at all the amazing sport from the end of last term and we look forward to a busy schedule in Term 3, including the Primary FOBISIA Games in Phuket.

Welcome back. It is not often one of our children makes a national team but one of our Year 5 children has achieved this incredible honour.  Please read below to find out more.

KS2 start their options in PE.  In Term 3, the children will have 3 different activities they can choose to do.  The options range from tag rugby, volleyball, tennis, basketball, football, dodgeball, dance or gymnastics.

After a really busy period of sport before the break, we now have a period of preparation for the Primary FOBISIA Games.

Click on the image below to see a short video which captures some of the images and videos from this action-packed week of sport:

Golf

After her success at the Golf FOBISIA Games 2018, one of our Year 5 children has continued to be outstanding in her sport.  Making the Thailand National team is an incredible achievement and she will represent her country in the IMG Junior World Golf Championship in the US from 11 to 13th May. We wish her the best of luck and we will keep a close eye on her achievements.

Swimming

After the great results at the Marlin Mayhem, our swimmers will be full of confidence going into the last competitions of the school year. We have the Flying Fish Swim Meet at BISP from the 3-5 May, plus we have something new to the PE programme with our first ever water polo tournament on the 19 May @ Shrewsbury. The children will be notified soon if selected.

Football

  • 3v3 Tournament @ NIST - Sunday 6th May

  • Harrow Festival - 12 May - U9/U11 teams

Gymnastics

Well done again to all the girls who competed at the Moose Game in what was our first ever gymnastics competition. The results have been sent to us and some our girls had some great achievements.

In the level 2 category, one of our children achieved a 3rd place finish on the vault out of 226 gymnasts.

In the level 3 category, we had a 5th place finish on the floor and an 11th place finish on the vault out of 187 gymnasts.

Our next competition, BISAC gymnastics, is fast-approaching on 28 and 29 April. The girls have been selected and are looking forward to more competitive gymnastics.

More Events

  • BISAC Gymnastics Championship 2018: 28 -29 April @ Patana School

Dance

There were some incredible dance performances last term. The children have worked really hard and the dances were exceptional. The dances ranged from the Haka and cheerleading to the basketball and football dances. A big thank you to Miss Cherry on these amazing performances which highlight how dance supports all the other skills that our students learn in their PE lessons.

Teeball

Well done to all the Year 6 children who competed against TCIS in teeball in the last week of Term 2. Once again our children were exceptional and are looking great for the upcoming FOBISIA Games. Our next and final fixture before FOBISIA is against Patana on 22 May. This is perfect timing and will be a great test so close to the Games.

FOBISIA Training

We are now close to having the full schedule for the Primary Games and would like to invite you to a parent meeting about the Games on Thursday 26 April at 4.00 p.m. Please come to the PE classroom outside Mr Damon’s office.

It is now time to start thinking about the kit your child will need for the FOBISIA Games. All items are available in the Uniform Shop. If your child does not have the Flames Teeball logo on their PE top please bring it to K. Seung to have the logo added.

  • STA Cap

  • STA tour bag or rucksack

  • Athletics vest

  • PE top with Flames Teeball logo

  • PE shorts x 2 or 3 (athletics, football and teeball)

  • Yellow football top

  • STA football socks

  • Tour top

  • Marlins top

  • School swim suit

  • STA Swim cap

  • Goggles

Term 3 Training

  • Wednesday - All FOBISIA SQUAD (Years 6,5,4) will have athletics training. This will give all children a chance to work on their athletic events.

  • Friday - All FOBISIA SQUAD (Years 6,5,4) will have teeball training at the Arsenal training facility Pridi Soi 21. We normally only do this a couple of times before FOBISIA, but by using the bigger teeball pitches at Arsenal for longer, we will be better prepared.

If you have any questions please email Mr Damon.

School Online Communication System - SOCS

We hope you may have had a chance to look at our news Sports portal, where we are already posting fixtures, team sheets, photos etc for our busy sports schedule. You may access it using this link.

The site is open for players and parents alike to check rosters, schedules etc. It is a great tool for communication between coaches, players and parents, though unlike the current system, the emphasis will be on parents and players to be proactive in checking the site, rather than awaiting emails from coaches!

We will still need to communicate via email for transport requirements for the time being.

Mr. Ollie presented the new system to the High School students in early March so that they may get to know it. He’ll recommend to them that they show it to you too, in case you’re interested.

We recommend that you visit the site and familiarise yourself with it. If you have any feedback, please let either Mr Damon or Mr Ollie know.

By August, we hope everyone will be ready to use SOCS to follow the action!

Saturday Programme and Outside Opportunities

Our Saturday program continues to grow and it is great seeing so many of our STA children coming to school to enjoy playing sport together.
