Through an extensive programme of local and international service initiatives, environmental projects, and in-school leadership opportunities, our children learn about the world around them – and make it a better place.

CHAMPIONING SUSTAINABILITY

At SISD, we aim to empower students to shape a better future through a whole-school approach to sustainability. By weaving key social, cultural, economic, and environmental awareness concepts into our students’ education, students deepening their understanding of sustainability issues. We’re a proud member of The Alliance for Sustainable Schools and an award-winning Eco-School, too.

Our learners enjoy a myriad of opportunities to get hands-on and make a difference, whether that’s connecting with nature by building bee houses or supporting global campaigns like World Water Day. They can also join our Green Team and take part in local environmental projects, including the city-wide Dubai Can recycling initiative.

GLOBAL CHANGEMAKERS

Our partnership with UNICEF inspires students to think and act like global changemakers, as they explore pressing international issues like the UN Sustainable Development Goals and climate change.

Participating in our Model United Nations group, meanwhile, develops our learners’ critical thinking, diplomacy, and public speaking skills, while also deepening their understanding of global affairs. Year-round, our learners also raise funds and awareness for Dubai Cares, a global charity that works to ensure education for all.

#SISDGivesBack

We are committed to community and global citizenship through impactful initiatives under the #SISDGivesBack program. The school celebrates meaningful events like World Animal Day, Pink October, Jeans for Genes Day, and International Food Day, raising awareness for global and local causes. Activities such as skipathons, cross-country trials, and sustainability committees emphasise health, wellbeing, and environmental responsibility. These programs instill empathy, social responsibility, and a sense of unity among our students while developing global awareness. SISD’s approach ensures students grow as compassionate, informed citizens, actively contributing to the community and making a positive impact.

CARING THROUGH THE CURRICULUM

Our International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula are truly purpose-driven, enriched by opportunities that instil a sense of social responsibility.

Every subject taught in the Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP) features a unit of work that culminates in a tangible, community-focused ‘action’. At IB Diploma level, the Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) element of the core programme empowers our young people to go above and beyond to support others.
