Let’s take a look at what a typical day can look like for a SISD student.
The day begins early at SISD, as students arrive at our state-of-the-art campus. For our boarders, mornings start with a nutritious all you can eat buffet breakfast between just before they head to school in the canteen, setting them up for a day of learning and activity. Day students arrive and are greeted by friends and teachers, establishing a strong sense of community from the moment they step onto campus.
Our multilingual curriculum means that students start their day with lessons in either English, French, German, depending on their chosen language stream. Our bilingual IB programmes ensure that students are not only academically challenged but also develop strong linguistic and cultural competencies.
After the first class, students take part in a variety of subjects ranging from mathematics and science to the arts and business. Our approach to learning encourages critical thinking and problem-solving, ensuring that students are engaged and active participants in their education.
Our classrooms are designed to champion collaboration, with students working together on projects, presentations, and hands-on activities.
Lunchtime at SISD is more than just a break - it’s a chance to refuel with a healthy, balanced meal and to socialise with peers. Our on-campus dining facilities offer nutritious, international cuisine that caters to different dietary needs and preferences, making it a part of the day our students look forward to.
During this time, students also have the opportunity to relax, chat informally with teachers, or enjoy some fresh air in our outdoor spaces. This break helps them reset and prepare for the afternoon's activities.
After lunch, students engage in specialised subjects and after school activities. Whether it's an in-depth science experiment, a literature discussion, or a hands-on art project, the afternoons are filled with interactive and stimulating learning experiences.
SISD strongly believes in a well-rounded education, so the school day also include sports, music, drama, and other creative pursuits. Our extensive sports facilities allow students to participate in activities such as swimming, football, basketball, climbing wall and tennis, promoting teamwork and an active lifestyle. Those interested in the performing arts can join music ensembles, drama productions, or dance classes, allowing them to explore their passions.
Once academic lessons are done for the day, students can access a wide range of after school activities and enrichment programmes. From robotics and coding to debate club and Model United Nations (a simulated United Nations committee), these activities allow students to broaden their interests and develop new skills.
For boarders, the late afternoon is a time for relaxation and prepare for the evening. Students are greeted by the boarding team when they arrive back at the boarding house, welcomed with an array of snacks for them to enjoy before they head into the evening.
As the school day winds down, boarders enjoy a family-style dinner, followed by supervised study sessions to reinforce what they’ve learned during the day. Members of the academic team provide boarders with the support each night, to ensure they are prepared for examinations and are confident with their learning. This time also encourages independence and responsibility, as students can opt to study quietly in their rooms, learning to manage their own schedules and learning requirements effectively.
Evenings in the boarding houses are a time for relaxation and community. Boarders have spacious common rooms, filled with games and entertainment, such as table tennis, table football, pianos, karaoke machines, Olympic pool, full-sized gym and even a PlayStation!
Weekends are full of organised trips to the malls, cinema, beaches, desert and mountains - and all the best entertainment options that Dubai has to offer.
Once the day is done, boarders will head to their luxury ensuite rooms for some down time and a good night’s sleep.
