Get Active With the Dubai 30X30 Challenge at SISD!

At Swiss International Scientific School Dubai, we’re excited to participate in the annual Dubai 30X30 Fitness Challenge, a city-wide movement designed to promote health and fitness. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast or looking to start a new routine, this is a great opportunity for families to stay active together.

A Brief History of the Dubai 30X30 Challenge

The Dubai Fitness Challenge was launched in 2017 by Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the goal of making Dubai one of the most active cities in the world. The challenge is simple yet impactful: 30 minutes of physical activity for 30 consecutive days. Held every year in October and November, the event brings together residents of all ages and fitness levels to improve their health and well-being. This year, the challenge runs from Saturday 26th October to Sunday 24th November. Since its inception, it has grown into a much-anticipated event with city-wide activities, pop-up fitness villages, and community events.

How to Get Involved

Joining the Dubai 30X30 Fitness Challenge is easy and accessible for everyone! Here’s how to participate:

  1. Commit to 30 Minutes a Day: Whether it’s walking, running, swimming, or yoga, make a family commitment to move for at least 30 minutes each day for 30 days.
  2. Track Your Progress: There are several apps available, including the Dubai Fitness Challenge app, to help track your daily activities. You can also create your own family chart at home to motivate each other.
  3. Join SISD Events: At SISD, we’ll be organizing various activities for students and parents throughout the challenge. Stay tuned for more information about fitness sessions, school competitions, and community challenges.
  4. Use the City's Fitness Resources: Dubai transforms into a fitness playground during the 30X30 Challenge, with free events, fitness villages, and pop-up classes all over the city. Make the most of these resources and try new activities with your children!

Creative Fitness Ideas for Families and Children

Here are some fun and engaging ways to keep your family moving during the 30X30 challenge:

  • Family Walks or Bike Rides: Explore nearby parks or cycling tracks. Dubai offers a variety of outdoor spaces that are perfect for family walks or bike rides. Make it a weekend tradition to explore a new area!
  • Home Fitness Fun: Create a mini fitness circuit in your living room or garden. Simple exercises like jumping jacks, squats, or even hula-hooping can be a great way to get everyone active.
  • After-School Sports: Encourage your children to try new sports like football, basketball, or swimming. SISD offers a range of extracurricular activities that can count toward their 30 minutes of daily fitness.
  • Feel Good Fridays at SISD: Join us every Friday from 7.15am to 7.45am and walk, run, scoot around the outdoor track with us! It's a fun and easy way to get your steps in before the start of the day.
  • Online Family Workouts: Join an online family workout session where parents and kids can participate together. Platforms like YouTube or fitness apps offer child-friendly workout videos that make exercise enjoyable for all ages.
  • Nature Adventures: Plan outdoor weekend hikes or beach outings. Discover Dubai’s nature trails, or simply head to the beach for a day of swimming, beach volleyball, or frisbee.
