The benefits of summer camps & vacation activities
The Summertime is upon us! Our kids are ready for a long period of freedom from schoolwork, with many opportunities to have fun, expand their horizons, and develop new skills. While there is sometimes the temptation to let your child go idle during vacations and just coast along waiting for school to come back in a few weeks or months, sending them out for summer camps and other vacation activities is a much better idea with many benefits. Here are some that you can consider.
1. They keep learning fresh in children’s minds and develop new skills
Children’s minds are at their most malleable and receptive of knowledge in youth, and it’s important to take advantage of this for as long as you can. Sending them to summer camps that teach them new skills or educate them in entirely new fields, especially those that won’t be taught in school, will keep them on their toes and ensure that their minds will always be ready to learn even after a long time outside the classroom.
2. They enhance social skills
Learning how to socialize outside the classroom is an important part of a children’s life. Any summer camp attendee will tell you that one of the best parts will be the ties and bonds that they formed through the weeks. It’s a chance for them to build leadership and risk-taking skills, alongside people who share similar interests and passions.
3. They keep them busy and physical
Whether it’s learning how to build robots or summer sports camps, being out there and active is always going to be better than your child having nothing to do and being idle at home. By adding a summer camp or workshop into the mix, it provides them with structure that prevents them from just whiling away their hours. Providing them with fun experiences that are still structured is a great solution to them staring at a TV or phone screen all summer long. Sports camps have the added benefit of promoting good physical health through exercise.
