We are thrilled to share some of the illuminating insights gleaned from the recent NA Education Middle East Arabic and Islamic Conference. Held in Amman Academy and the Amman Academy Diwan Center, this transformative event gathered educators from across seven countries in the Middle East, representing 9 schools. It served as a beacon of innovative practices that can profoundly influence our approach to teaching.
BEST PRACTICE TO ENHANCE LEARNING ARABIC AS A FIRST AND SECOND LANGUAGE
One of the standout discussions revolved around the incorporation of International Baccalaureate (IB) approaches to deliver ministry curriculums from across the region. This strategic integration not only aligns with international educational standards, but also enriches the learning experience for students. What I witnessed in these specific workshops was passionate educators advocating for the concept of blending IB methodologies with local curriculum frameworks. This ensured schools were compliant in all facets of curriculum delivery, but presented exciting possibilities for enhancing educational outcomes in our region through innovative practices.
Another noteworthy theme explored during the conference was the implementation of best practices in teaching and learning, particularly Assessment for Learning (AfL), to engage both Arab and non-Arab speakers effectively. The emphasis on AfL signifies a commitment to fostering inclusive and interactive learning environments. This approach not only promotes student engagement but also enhances the overall effectiveness of instruction across diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
A third significant aspect discussed was the application of metacognitive strategies to support students in their Arabic attainment and progress. Sessions focused on how metacognition nurtures students' self-awareness and reflective thinking skills. Delegates delved into the ways in which equipping learners with metacognitive tools, they can empower them to become more autonomous and effective language learners.
Reflections and Opportunities for Implementation:
The insights shared during the conference underscore the value of embracing innovative approaches to education. As delegates reflect on the key themes discussed, they are encouraged to consider how these strategies can be adapted and implemented within our own educational contexts.
Integration of IB methodologies into local curricula, adoption of AfL practices to promote inclusivity, and leveraging metacognitive strategies for language acquisition are just a few examples of the transformative potential inherent in these approaches. As we strive to enhance teaching and learning experiences for our students, exploring new methodologies and collaborating with colleagues to drive positive change within our schools and communities, will be key.
يُسعدني أن أشارك معكم بعض الإضاءات التي جُمعت من مؤتمر اللغة العربية والتربية الإسلامية في الشرق الأوسط لمدارس نورد أنغليا، والذي تمّ عقده في أكاديميّة عمّان وفي ديوان أكاديميّة عمّان، وقد جمع هذا الحدث الاستثنائيّ المعلمين من سبع دول في الشّرق الأوسط، يمثّلون تسع مدارس. ليكون بمثابة منارة للممارسات المبتكرة التي يمكن أن تؤثر بشكل عميق وفعّال على نهجنا في التدريس.
أفضل الممارسات لتعزيز تعلم اللغة العربية كلغة أولى وثانية:
لعلّ أبرز المناقشات المتناولة هي كيفيّة دمج مناهج البكالوريا الدولية مع مناهج الوزارة في جميع أنحاء المنطقة. ولا يتوافق هذا التكامل الإستراتيجيّ مع المعايير التعليمية الدولية فحسب، بل يثري تجربة الطّلّاب التّعلّميّة أيضًا.
ما شاهدته في ورشات العمل الّتي تناولت هذا الموضوع حماس المعلّمين في الدّفاع عن مفهوم دمج منهجيات البكالوريا الدولية مع أطر المناهج المحلية. ليؤدّي ذلك إلى ضمان امتثال المدارس لذلك في جميع جوانب تقديم المناهج الدراسية، ويقدّم إمكانيات مثيرة لتعزيز النتائج التعليمية في منطقتنا من خلال الممارسات المبتكرة والفعّالة.
. أفضل الممارسات في التدريس والتعلم، مع التركيز على التقييم من أجل التعلم: ومن المواضيع الأخرى الجديرة بالذّكر والتي قد تمّ تناولها خلال المؤتمر هو تطبيق أفضل الممارسات في التعليم والتعلم، وخاصة التقييم من أجل التعلم، لإشراك المتعلّمين العرب وغير العرب بشكل فعال في عمليّة التّعلّم. يشير التركيز على التقييم من أجل التعلم إلى الالتزام بتعزيز بيئات التّعلم الشاملة والتفاعلية. وهذا النهج لا يعزّز مشاركة الطلاب فحسب، ولكن يعزّز
أيضًا الفعالية الشاملة للتّعليم لتراعي الخلفيات اللغوية والثقافية المتنوعة.
. استخدام إستراتيجيات ما وراء المعرفة لدعم التحصيل والتقدم في اللغة العربية:
أما الجانب الثالث الهامّ الذي تم طرحه ومناقشته فهو تطبيق إستراتيجيات ما وراء المعرفة لدعم الطلاب في تحصيلهم وتقدمهم في اللغة العربية. ركزت هذه الورشة على كيفية تعزيز ما وراء المعرفة للوعي الذاتي ومهارات التفكير التأملي لدى الطلاب. وقد بحث المشاركون في الطرق التي يمكن من خلالها تزويد المتعلمين بأدوات ما وراء المعرفة لتمكينهم من أن يصبحوا متعلمي لغة أكثر استقلالية وفعالية
أفكار وفرص التنفيذ:
تؤكد الأفكار التي تمت مشاركتها خلال المؤتمر على قيمة تبني أساليب مبتكرة في التعليم. وبينما كان المشاركون يفكرون في المواضيع الرئيسية التي تمت مناقشتها، تم تشجيعهم على النظر في كيفية تكييف هذه الإستراتيجيات وتنفيذها في سياقاتنا التعليمية المختلفة.
إن دمج منهجيات البكالوريا الدولية في المناهج المحلية، واعتماد ممارسات التقييم من أجل التعلم لتعزيز الشمولية، والاستفادة من استراتيجيات ما وراء المعرفة لاكتساب اللغة ليست سوى أمثلة قليلة على الإمكانات التحويلية الكامنة في هذه الأساليب. وبينما نسعى جاهدين لتعزيز تجارب التدريس والتعلم لطلابنا، سيكون استكشاف منهجيات جديدة والتعاون مع الزملاء لدفع التغيير الإيجابي داخل مدارسنا ومجتمعاتنا أمرًا أساسيًا.
