Play matters because it allows children to develop essential physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills. When children are playing, they are also learning!

The children at Regents are offered a wide spectrum of opportunities, we encourage them to play independently, in small groups and in focused playful activities with adults, ensuring there is always a balance in what they are learning and how they are learning it.  

We invite you to explore our learning environments to discover the range of resources and equipment we have available to stimulate and inspire your children’s active learning.

What to play in the school holidays?

You can use some simple resources at home to engage your children and encourage active thinking and learning, the best resources are often open ended and adaptable, such as;

• Playdough
• Building blocks both big and small
• Small toy figures, dinosaurs and animals
• Sand and water play with a variety of cups, pots, pans and other items
• Paints, pens and pastels for free choice mark making
• Small loose parts such as curtain rings, chess pieces and pebbles for counting and ordering
