Eco Day We can often feel powerless when talking about some of the enormous environmental issues facing our world but what we need to understand is that if we all take action in a small way, together that means we can make a huge difference.

We can often feel powerless when talking about some of the enormous environmental issues facing our world but what we need to understand is that if we all take action in a small way, together that means we can make a huge difference.

Helping our students to understand that we all have a responsibility to take action and protect the environment is one of our core values at Regents, both as a Round Square school and as part of the Nord Anglia Education Global Campus. Our Eco Committee are making great progress in helping us to become an Eco School and support the Global Goals.

Eco Schools is a global programme engaging millions of children across 67 countries, making it the largest educational programme in the world. For more than 20 years Eco-Schools has been empowering children to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the same simple seven-step process that has been used successfully across the world. Eco-Schools improves pupils’ skills, raises environmental awareness, improves the school environment and also creates financial savings for schools as well as a whole host of other benefits.

The 17 Global Goals were set in September 2015, when the leaders of all 193 member states of the UN adopted Agenda 2030, a universal agenda that contains the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Over the next fifteen years, countries will mobilise efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind. The Global Goals is the most ambitious agreement for sustainable development that world leaders have ever made, integrating all three aspects of sustainable development; social, economic and environmental.

This week our students have led many initiatives from cleaning up the car park, taking part in the zero electricity challenge, getting creative with outfits made from recycled materials, having a vegan lunch, taking part in our Eco photo challenge competition and much more. They are learning that they can make a difference, what actions they can take and how they can work together to protect the environment on which we all depend.

เป้าหมายการพัฒนาโลกอย่างยั่งยืน 17 เป้าหมาย (Global Goals) ได้ถูกก่อตั้งขึ้นในเดือนกันยายนปี 2015 โดยผู้นำทั้งหมดจาก 193 ประเทศสมาชิกของสหประชาชาติ ที่ได้กำหนดวาระ 2030 ซึ่งเป็นวาระสากลที่มีเป้าหมายเพื่อการพัฒนาโลกอย่างยั่งยืน ภายใน 15 ปีข้างหน้าทุกประเทศจะทำงานร่วมกันเพื่อพยายามยุติความยากจน ความไม่เสมอภาค และจัดการสภาพภูมิอากาศเปลี่ยนแปลง และเป้าหมายการพัฒนาโลกอย่างยั่งยืน (Global Goals) นี้ก็ถือว่าเป็นข้อตกลงที่ใหญ่โตที่สุดที่ตัวแทนโลกต่างๆเคยตกลงมาก่อนเลย เพราะเป้าหมายเหล่านี้รวบรวมทั้งสามด้านของการพัฒนาโลกอย่างยั่งยืน: ทางสังคม ทางเศรษฐกิจ และทางสิ่งแวดล้อม

ในสัปดาห์นี้นักเรียนเราได้ช่วยเหลือสิ่งแวดล้อมในหลายๆวิธีเลย มีทั้งการทำความสะอาดลานจอดรถ การงดใช้ไฟฟ้า การประดิษฐ์เสื้อผ้าจากวัสดุรีไซเคิล การทานอาหารกลางวันมังสวิรัติ การประกวดรูปภาพเพื่อสิ่งแวดล้อม และอื่นๆอีกมากมาย และที่สำคัญพวกเขาก็ได้เรียนรู้ว่าเขาสามารถสร้างความแตกต่างที่ดีได้จริงๆ
