We are thrilled to announce that Regents International School Pattaya has been awarded the Bronze Social Impact Distinction. This prestigious award is a testament to our school being commitment to placing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the UN Sustainable Development Goals at the heart of our ethos.
This accolade is also a step forward as we work toward becoming a Nord Anglia Social Impact School.
Our students have been instrumental in driving social impact initiatives across school. Their efforts have included organising high-profile events such as Student Takeover Day, the school turning blue for World Children’s Day and a wide-ranging variety of Community Partner activities.
This also includes project ‘Mission Possible’ created by our Year 10 Student Community Partner Representatives who want to make a long-term sustainable difference to a non-profit organisation ‘Women with a Mission’, which serves to educate stateless orphan children on the border of Thailand and Myanmar.
Earlier in 2024, as a school and community, the initiative led by our Year 10 students Yubin, Yoonwoo, Eunsong, Ariana, Yanue and Veronica was awarded with the Nord Anglia Education Social Impact Grant of 10,00 USD.
Earlier in the year, we also held our Early Years Art Auction in which the art from our talented little artists in Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception was bidded in which we proudly raised 63,733 THB for our Community Partners: 'Agape' and 'Father Ray Day Care’.
The Social Impact Distinction with UNICEF is a three-tiered award based on the principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination, and participation in student voice. It takes a whole-school approach to child rights education, which can be defined as learning about rights, learning through rights, and learning for rights within an overall context of education as a right.
The Social Impact Award has 3 strands:
- Learning about rights and goals: our students learn about the UN Convention on the Rights of the child and the UN Sustainable Development Goals and think about how these apply to their own lives and the situations of other children around the world.
- Learning through rights: we put children’s rights at the heart of our school community to help promote positive behaviour, respectful relationships and intercultural understanding.
- Learning for rights: our students use their knowledge of rights and goals to positively influence our school community, through student voice, advocating for goals and rights in the wider community and helping other children access their rights.
Congratulations to our Social Impact team and we look forward to working towards the Silver Award Distinction putting social impact work at the heart of Regents International School Pattaya.
