Juilliard-NAE Regional Music and Dance professional development course at PBIS

Last weekend, PBIS hosted Juilliard-NAE Regional Music and Dance professional development course for music and dance teachers across Europe and the Middle East. The event was led by Kathryn Andersen, Violinist & Senior Curriculum Specialist, Juilliard Global K-12 Programs, and Hilary Easton, Director of Global K-12 Dance Programs and Faculty, Juilliard Dance Division.

Students at Prague British International School celebrate success with IGCSE results

Students at Prague British International School, part of the global Nord Anglia Education family of schools, are celebrating today after receiving their long-awaited IGCSE results earlier this month. As part of Nord Anglia Education’s collaboration with UNICEF, students across the globe have been raising awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through projects at their schools. The SDGs are a collection of 17 goals set by the United Nations regarding social and economic development issues.

Trip to the Asylum Centre in Kostelec Nad Orlici

On Thursday 13th June, 11 students from Key stage 3 and 4 visited the asylum centre in Kostelec Nad Orlici with Ms Hamel and Ms Tichotova to deliver welcome packs for children and teenagers living there.

IGCSE Open Evening

This week we had our second open evening for students in year 9 who will be joining the Libus campus to study IGCSEs. The evening consisted of a presentation about IGCSEs and the subjects that students can choose. It is now important that year 9 students start considering their options in terms of studying the IB diploma or careers programme in year 12 as well as their university choices and eventual careers. This can be quite a daunting task so I hope that the information provided and the communication with staff and current students has helped students and parents with these difficult decisions.

Burns Night 2019

More than 150 parents and staff gathered for the annual PBIS Burns Night on Friday. Guests were greeted by a (rather cold) piper and then enjoyed an evening of Scottish food, drink, poetry, song and dance all in honour of the 18th century Scottish poet, Robert Burns.

Westbourne Grammar School, Melbourne orchestra and choir at PBIS

Year 9 and upper seniors were treated to a wonderful concert this morning at Libus campus from Westbourne Grammar School, Melbourne. The orchestra and choir are on their European tour and have performed in Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and arrived in Prague yesterday where they will perform tomorrow evening in the centre of town. They will finish their tour in Austria, Salzburg and Vienna.

D of E Award For PBIS Students

On Thursday morning, students were presented with their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver awards in the beautiful Old Town Hall in Staroměstské náměstí. 41 of our students were present to receive their awards along with students from other international schools in Prague. Two of those students, Eliška Chocová and Sandra Hoangová, who were both receiving their Bronze award, performed at the ceremony and blew the audience away with their beautiful voices and Eliška's ukulele skills, which she learned as part of her DofE.

What a way to end the term! Wonderful Christmas singing involving all the Kamyk students, mixed with a variery of Christmas Market stalls.

Student Leadership Day

PBIS is preparing students to become the leaders of tomorrow, to become the agents of positive change. We want our students to be ambitious to improve the world in any way they can and to shape a better future.

Fireworks Night 2018

There was a lovely family atmosphere at the first ever PBIS Fireworks Night. Parents, students and staff all rolled up their sleeves to get involved in the event.

PBIS Halloween Celebrations

Ghosts and ghouls, monsters and mummies, skeletons and superheroes were all in attendance as PBIS celebrated Halloween at Kamyk and Vlastina.

Incorporating drama, the last part of our performing arts programme is more than just learning how to act. Acknowledging each subject’s qualities while engaging in all three curricula in a holistic way can help students build skills that are transferrable, which means they can be used across their subjects at school and later on in life, says Rachel Whitehunt, Director of Performing Arts at the British International School of Washington.
