From short-film amateur productions to the lead role in Slovakia’s entry film for the 2023 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category, Gleb, our Year 13 student talked about his journey in the film industry. Gleb always wanted to be an actor since he was a child and has been working towards his dream ever since and moving to a different country seven years ago did not stop him. He had a chance to work alongside well-known Czech actors such as Igor Chmela, Alena Mihulova and Victor Zavadil, and international actors from Ukraine and Slovakia. After a long five months of castings, he made his screen debut in the film Victim which was released in 2022
It all started with her mother seeing a Latin American dance club next to Ioana’s kindergarten. As soon as she saw it, she immediately took five-year-old Ioana to try her first lesson. Years later, after hours of hard work and passion for Latin American and Ballroom dancing, Ioana became part of the Czech National Dance Team and until two years ago, when she decided to focus on her business studies within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, she was a successful dancer. Studying Business, Psychology, English, Spanish, Math, and Environmental Systems and Societies she is now focusing on her future and a new dream; to start her own perfume company.
From a go-karting enthusiast to signing a professional contract with McLaren and being a part of the Veloce Elites team, Harvey his making his dream come true. At the age of 14, Harvey moved to the Czech Republic from Denmark where his passion for motor sports started, he then, during the lockdown, kick started his career in Esport. Whilst studying Creative Media, Sports Dance, Spanish, and English for his International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme he has struggled with time-management and letting the critics rule his perception. Nevertheless, he learnt new skills and gained confidence which has helped him to shine.

The One Third Story Writing Competition was an opportunity for students across Nord Anglia Education schools to celebrate internationalism and multilingualism. With over 118 stories received from 42 schools, the competition was a huge success, and securing a runner up place is a tremendous achievement.
