EMBRACING YOUR CHILD'S PASSIONS

At NAISR, outstanding learning opportunities will inspire your child to follow their dreams, showcase their talents, and do what they love.

Supported by our world-class teachers, coaches, and pastoral team, your child will overcome challenges, take risks, and experience the thrill of new discoveries. They’ll do this at our after-school clubs, through our exclusive collaborations, and on unforgettable local and international trips.

Athletics & team sports

Taking part in sport and getting active is shown to boost physical and emotional wellbeing, encourage teamwork, and build resilience in children.

Our rich athletics and team sports programme offers something for everybody whether they want to participate for fun or compete against other schools in our area.  Our coaching staff make sure every student feels like they’re contributing, progressing, and having fun.

The ever popular multi-sport and skill-based programme, which focuses on balance, flexibility, coordination, and body movements, is for children in Years 1-4.  Building on these skills, older children are encouraged to join our fitness club which focuses on developing coordination, flexibility, body control, and speed.

Music
Our specialist music programme is packed with opportunities. Your child can join an orchestra, band, or choir, or enjoy the challenge of learning an instrument. We’ll nurture their talents and build their confidence, too, supporting them to star in class and school performances.

Music

We love music at NAISR and our variety of extra-curricular lessons offer students an excellent opportunity to discover a new passion or build on their talent.  Each term our specialist teachers offer group and individual lessons in accordion, drums, percussion, guitar, ukulele, piano, recorder, flute and trumpet.

The best way to improve beyond lessons is to get involved in our school band, orchestra or choir.  The experience of performing as a group allows students to develop musically as individuals while contributing to the joy and artistry of performance.

Arts, crafts and design
We celebrate our students' creativity, encouraging them to express their artistic side through a range of media and techniques.

Arts, craft and design

Arts and craft, sewing and brilliant brushes are just three of the options available to our students each term.

With an emphasis on having fun, learning some art skills and trying new things, our art club encourages students to develop their creativity, trying out everything from painting, drawing, collage, papier-maché to sculpture, clay work, print-making and more.

Budding clothes designers start with the basics: how does a sewing machine actually work?  How to go backwards or around a corner?  How to properly cut fabric?  Once the basics are mastered, it's time to get creative and it's plenty of fun to see our creations come to life!

Student Leadership
At NAISR, we encourage our students to take on leadership roles, preparing them for their life after school.  Our Student Council and Model United Nations are excellent ways for our students to get involved, develop their leadership skills and to make sure their opinions are heard on issues that matter to them.

Student Leadership

Our Student Council reps are role models in school, giving their peers a voice, running guided tours, and making practical changes to the way we do things. They also support local and international charities. We have a Primary Student Council, too, which nurtures our younger learners’ organisational, leadership, and teamwork skills.

Model United Nations (MUN) teaches students about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations.  MUN teaches participants skills like research, public speaking, debating, and writing, and encourages them to think critically, work as a team and become leaders of their cohort.

STEAM
Building on our STEAM programme in the classroom, our STEAM clubs develop students who can think outside the box, work as a team, and challenge the norm, becoming confident critical thinkers and problem solvers.

STEAM

Building on the work done in the classroom, our fun, creative and challenging STEAM clubs include a Lego bricks challenge, Ninja Maths and Mad Science Clubs.

In our dedicated STEAM Maker Space or science labs, students tackle some of the world’s trickiest puzzles. Last year, our students were tasked with demonstrating their understanding of the water cycle, researching how oceans affect the weather. Together, they investigated the facts, considered one another’s ideas, and worked together to show what they’d learnt.

Learning in this way helps our students to become confident critical thinkers who are prepared for the challenges of further education.

Early years and primary

Supported by their brilliant class teacher, your child will explore the world around them from an early age.

Our Foundation 2 children visit the local petting zoo where, with the help of an ecologist and their knowledge of the seasons, they search the woods for insects and the first signs of spring. In Year 3, our children get an early introduction to world-class art, discovering the works of the Dutch Masters – including van Gogh, Mondrian, and Hieronymus Bosch – at galleries across Rotterdam.

For 10 weeks, our Year 4 and 5 students get close to nature in a local garden, studying the biology of plants. They also grow their own vegetables, germinating, planting, and tending to the garden in spring before returning in autumn to harvest their crop, which they use to cook a delicious pizza or soup.

Secondary

Our secondary trips to galleries and museums add a real-world dimension to subjects, including art, history, and geography.

Our students visit Melly, a contemporary gallery, to view the works of celebrated artists, including the sculptures of Jasmine Thomas-Girvan. They also explore the street art around Witte de Withstraat and Rotterdam Noord, which provides inspiration for their own projects. And at the MC Escher Museum, students learn about the renowned illustrator, exploring patterns, perception, space, tessellations, and transformation.

We love to celebrate our students’ successes, and our end of year trip to Efteling or Wallibi theme park is an opportunity to let off steam with friends.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING

LOOKING AFTER YOUR CHILD

Your child’s happiness and wellbeing are our priority. We know that students who feel secure, supported, and included thrive, both personally and academically. Our pastoral care team, which includes specially trained teachers, a nurse, and safeguarding team, actively make sure every child is safe and cared for. Our Global Campus platform also contains a wealth of resources to keep minds and bodies healthy.

We encourage our students to act with integrity, to be considerate, and to develop the attributes they need to flourish as individuals, family members, and part of society. Our Core Values Programme, which is embedded into every student’s day, creates a strong sense of community.
