Dear Parents,
As we approach the end of term, it has been an exciting week for our students. We are delighted to have been able to organise a visit to the Hong Kong Sevens at the new Kai Tak Stadium for a selection of our students. The reward trip was a fantastic afternoon, with many students creating amazing memories at the stadium's first large-scale event.
Our recent Art Basel trip was a resounding success, providing students with a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary art. This experience will have undoubtedly inspired our students. It was also a fitting start to our upcoming IB Art exhibition, which we look forward to showcasing during our Brushstrokes and Broadway event on Tuesday.
Huge congratulations are due to our Model United Nations (MUN) students, who achieved outstanding results at the weekend. Their dedication and teamwork have truly paid off, and we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.
We look forward to celebrating World Book Week from 23rd to 30th April, with a range of engaging activities designed to inspire a love of reading in our students. Fancy dress themes have already been shared with the students, and we look forward to seeing their creative interpretations!
As we approach the spring break, please note that our Year 11 and Year 13 students are nearing the end of their lessons in school. They will return for just two days after the break before embarking on their external examinations.
We wish all our families a wonderful spring break and look forward to seeing you upon our return.

MUN Update: Rylan H. (Y13)
Over the weekend, twelve NAIS Hong Kong students attended the largest Model United Nations conference in the city, Hong Kong Model United Nations, at the University of Hong Kong. NAIS delegates debated a broad range of topics, from the Northern Triangle in the Office for Drugs and Crime, to Iran’s legal system in the Security Council, and piracy in the Gulf of Guinea in the Ad Hoc Committee. These experiences not only broadened our students’ knowledge of international relations but gave them crucial networking opportunities with students from schools as far away as Karachi. All our delegates thoroughly enjoyed the conference and are excited for the next MUN at West Island School in June.
We’d like to give special congratulations to Nikki P in Y12, who was selected to be part of HKMUN’s highly selective and professional media team, Riccardo C and Kabir C in Y10, who won honourable mentions in the Economic and Social Council, and Eli Z in Y12, who won the Most Outstanding Delegate award in the Historic Security Council. Arianna M in Y12 served as the Deputy Chair of the Security Council, guiding academic and diplomatic debate over the three days, and Rylan H in Y13 served as the Head Chair of the Ad Hoc committee, who now enters retirement after six years in the Hong Kong MUN circuit.
IB Updates – Mrs. Holt
This week in the IB Suite we welcomed the University of Durham. Year 12s experienced a university style lecture on business and finance. The lecturer was really impressed with our students, their level of engagement and their questions. In addition, our Year 12 psychology students had a talk on cognitive bias and decision making by a lecturer from the University of York. The lecturer called our students “delightful”, and he has shared some useful resources with them.
Hong Kong Sevens Trip – Mr. Smit and Mr. Burnside
On Friday, our outstanding students were rewarded with an unforgettable experience at the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, held at the state-of-the-art Kai Tak Sports Park. The students, selected for their academic excellence and sporting achievements, immersed themselves in the electric atmosphere of the tournament. Many had never seen rugby sevens live before, and witnessing top teams compete at the biggest event in the sport's annual calendar was truly exhilarating. They were equally impressed by the stunning facilities, which left them eager to return and even inspired some to dream of playing there someday. We all came together to cheer on the Hong Kong national team in their exhibition match, and some of our international students proudly supported their home nations, making the event even more personal and memorable. Throughout the event, the students actively demonstrated excellent teamwork and sportsmanship, cheering on their favourite teams with enthusiasm and supporting each other with pride.
Looking Ahead
Best regards,
Fiona Thorndike
