Before creating the video, I produced a survey, which gave me initial input on what I should include, the places I should film and my target audience. As a result, I was able to create a list of the locations I wanted to include in the video, and I began to visit the places during the weekends.
Once I had finished the recording stage, I began to edit the video using software’s such as iMovie and Inshot. As I have used editing applications before, this allowed me to improve my skills and develop my prior knowledge. I made sure to continuously check my success criteria, a list of specifications that would allow my product to be successful. This list included having English and Chinese translations throughout the video, including at least 10 different attractions, incorporating locations and information about each place and included some of my own recommendations.
I shared my video on WeChat Channels which allowed me to receive feedback from my audience. I’ve also had the opportunity to share this video with Mr. Ferguson and Ms. Chen who both agreed that it would be a great resource to help new families and teachers who are joining the school. This project has allowed me to develop many skills which are aligned to the IB profile learner traits, including communication, risk-taking and inquiry.
A big thank you to my supervisor Ms. Kirsty who has supported and advised me throughout the project and to Ms. Jennie for helping me with translations.
