Dear DCIS Families,
As we draw the curtain on the end of Term 1, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable journey we've undertaken together. This term, spanning over 40% of our academic year, is a testament to our resilience, dedication, and unwavering commitment to our collective purpose.
I've been approached by several parents recently, acknowledging the tremendous efforts our staff have put in. It has indeed been a long and stimulating term. Yet, I firmly believe that genuine dedication doesn't drain us; rather, it invigorates us. Exhaustion stems from negative work, but when our endeavours align with our values and aspirations, it fuels our capacity to achieve great things and restores our energy.
The sight of our students arriving each morning brimming with enthusiasm and curiosity speaks volumes about their perception of our school. It's more than a place of learning; it's a sanctuary where they thrive, belong, and grow. Challenges have been confronted, friendships kindled, and new horizons embraced—a testament to the strength of our community.
This term has been a whirlwind of activity and accomplishments. Our Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) and Athletics Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACSIS) participation have surged significantly, underscoring our students' eagerness to engage and excel beyond the classroom and the commitment of our teachers. Noteworthy accolades and achievements, from outstanding IGCSE exam performances acknowledged at the Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards to triumphs in sporting events, such as the recent U15 FOBISIA Games, exemplify the dedication and talent within our community.
We've been honoured by esteemed visitors this term, such as Lord David Puttnam, Professor Rose Luckin, the Honourable Dr Stuart Lawrence and our MP, Rachel Ong. Our DCA have been phenomenally active, with a wonderful Christmas Fayre and the welcome return of the Quiz Night. Moreover, our recent submission of a comprehensive report to the Council of International Schools (CIS) marks a pivotal step in our continuous pursuit of excellence.
Reflecting on our rigorous CIS self-evaluation process, akin to an orchestra's performance, I'm reminded of the synchronised efforts that have propelled us forward. Like an orchestra's sections working in harmony, our collective endeavour embodies coordination, coherence, and a shared drive toward progress. I'm immensely proud of our colleagues' unwavering dedication and eagerly anticipate the next phase of our journey toward re-accreditation.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all parents for entrusting your children to us and for your unwavering support. Your messages of appreciation are deeply valued and inspire our teachers every day. As we approach the festive break, I wish each of you a restorative and tranquil holiday season.
We eagerly await everyone's return on Wednesday 10th January, reinvigorated and ready to embark on the next chapter of our journey together.
With warm regards,
Richard Dyer
