Congratulations to all 6 recipients of the Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards and 42 recipients of the Pearson Excellence Awards!

We were delighted to attend the annual Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards Ceremony – a prestigious occasion to celebrate excellence in achievement for students taking Pearson Edexcel GCSE and IGCSE examinations at the end of the previous academic year.

This year saw eight different international schools across Singapore gather with their outstanding students, proud parents and equally proud school representatives to witness the awarding of 44 subject awards to those who achieved the highest mark in Singapore, the region (Asia) and even the world! A huge congratulations to the following students for their remarkable achievements:

Darce Highest Mark in Singapore - Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Business
En-Li Highest Mark in Singapore - Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Computer Science
Highest Mark in Asia - Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Geography
Lucy Highest Mark in Singapore - Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Science (Double Award)
Nina Highest Mark in Singapore - Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Information and Communication Technology
Nuria
Highest Mark in the World - Pearson Edexcel GCSE Drama
Highest Mark in Singapore - Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Religious Studies
Yi Wei Highest Mark in Singapore - Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Chinese

We are immensely proud of all their achievements however we would like to give a special mention to two of our winners this year.

Yi Wei is currently only in Year 11, so she sat her Chinese IGCSE examinations a year early in Year 10. She has earned her outstanding award largely competing against students who are a year older.

This is En-Li's consecutive year at the award ceremony, having also won a ‘Highest Mark in Singapore’ award for his Mathematics IGCSE which he also sat in Year 10 – a winner of three awards in total now!

We are also extremely proud to present the Pearson Excellence Awards, to our current Year 12 students on campus. The Pearson Excellence Awards are awarded to students who achieve more than five different GCSE/IGCSE subject grades in the highest grade band possible, from Grades 7 – 9. We had 42 recipients of these awards, which is another phenomenal achievement for our students.

As a school with inclusion at its heart, we know and celebrate that success looks different for all students. As such, achievements like this make us even more proud as they validate our confidence in knowing that we can support all students to achieve outstanding results alongside being fully inclusive. Inclusion and excellence do not need to be mutually exclusive; we can, and certainly do, achieve both.

We caught up with some students for some tips on preparation for the GCSE.

“I think the most important thing is to start early, and schedule breaks. By learning everything well before the exam, you'll have lots of time to practice exam technique, meaning you can go into the exam feeling calm and prepared. Take a day off at least once a month, and make sure that you have something nice planned for after the exams, as it gives you something to look forward to!” - Lucy, Year 12 IB student

“I'm very grateful for the support and encouragement I've received from my teachers. One thing that I found very helpful was to practice past paper questions regularly to get used to the type of questions asked in exams. I would advise students to try to maintain a balance between studying and leisure by taking the time to do things they enjoy.” - Nina, Year 12 IB student
