It was a wonderful day for students to explore shapes, colours and practice fine motor movements through our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach. It encourages our youngest learners to be curious and engage with the people and environment around them.
“It’s a beautiful picture with dots inside” - Agnes
“This is a beautiful garden with dots around it” - Olive
Students had a truly fantastic time participating in collaborative 'Dot Day' learning engagements, focused around the theme of 'connection' in their House teams.
Everyone fully embraced the challenge and let their creativity flow. They explored various media and colours, from digital to paint, chalk, water, and bubbles to create unique dots. During the bubble provocation, one student remarked, "This is really hard," to which another encouragingly replied, "But you have to keep trying and trying!"
Our Principal, Mr Richard Dyer also joined in the fun and created his own dot painting with the help of the students.
During a collaborative sensory painting session, students across Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 observed and discussed what happens when different colours such as our House colours are mixed together.
It was a day filled with creativity, courage, and teamwork as the students learned all about the wonderful world of dots.
DCIS Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum teaches our youngest children to be curious, learn from their environment and relationships with others, and to lead how and what they learn. Learn more here.
