What a rewarding first year it has been for our newly formed DCIS Wolves! This year has offered so much, and we are so proud of all our students for their efforts. The 2022-2023 academic year has been filled plenty of highs with large participation levels from students across all year groups with commendable achievements from our FOBISIA U11, U13 and U11 Division at the ACSIS Netball Finals.
In August we reintroduced competitive sports at Dover Court after a two-year hiatus. We have previously competed as Fins, Lions, Lionesses and Bears and we felt that it was time to come together as one team, with one mascot – and that’s how the DCIS Wolf was born!
Last week we came together to celebrate an amazing year of sports at the first annual DCIS Wolves Sports Awards. We have seen more students than ever represent Dover Court in sports such as football, swimming, basketball, netball, rugby and volleyball, both locally and internationally. We have won multiple divisions in ACSIS, including netball and football, and we have excelled in the pool, but most importantly - we have shown outstanding sportsmanship, all whilst having a lot of fun.
Throughout the year, the Wolves were dedicated to attending the morning training session. This effort and positive mindset significantly impacted the performance of our sports teams and helped them to excel in different sports like football, basketball, swimming, netball, volleyball, and rugby.
Thank you to all our DCIS Wolves captains for leading the teams, thank you to teachers and coaches, and thank you to parents. Congratulations to all students awarded the break-through and coaches medals and congratulations to our outstanding Sportswoman and Sportsman of the year, Lily in Year 9 and Leonard in Year 11!
With the efforts of our PE team, coaches, and other staff members, we were able to build larger numbers in various sports, which led to the development of A, B, and C teams towards the end of the season.
Over the course of the year, we participated in over 300 fixtures with impressive results, including a total of six league wins across U11 boys football, U11 netball, U14 A netball, U14 B netball, U14 C netball, and U16 A netball. We also had two Division 1 runner-up medals from U12 A boys football and U14 A boys football.
I would like to extend thanks to all the PE team and teachers for their unwavering support and guidance, which helped our students to achieve positive results. Additionally, I would like to thank parents for their consistent support in ensuring the students' availability for a considerable number of fixtures.
We are already preparing for the upcoming academic year with the introduction of the newly developed pitch, some new sports, and well-planned opportunities. We hope to engage even more students in sports activities and provide them with the necessary skills and encouragement to be at their best. Please stay tuned for more information regarding our plans.
The Wolves are coming!
