The Choreography Challenge for NAE Schools is a step-by-step choreography project, supplemented with Juilliard Creative Classroom activities. Juilliard challenged teachers and students to create a piece of unique choreography over the course of the 2019–2020 school year.
As part of the project, students had to submit an application along with a video of their “work in process” and 6KK were selected out of 25 schools to work alongside a Juilliard Student Coach who is currently part of the Juilliard alumni.
6KK will work with John Hewitt throughout the remainder of the academic year to complete their finished piece which will be shown on Global Campus. John will work with students via skype to direct and support their ideas using activities from the Juilliard Creative Classroom and casting an outside eye on the project and building a connection between Dover Court and The Juilliard itself.
This is a unique chance for the students and one they are very excited about! They have learnt how to create their own duets and choreograph a class ensemble whilst using a variety of choreographic tools. Students are also exploring how diversity, collaboration and enquiry into dance can bring their class together through this exclusive opportunity.
