Join our next Open Day
At Champittet, we are privileged to host a variety of performing artists each year, enabling students of all ages to unleash their creativity through masterclasses and workshops.
In late November, we welcomed Jennifer Shirley, a Drama Curriculum Specialist from The Juilliard School. Thanks to our partnership with Juilliard, we regularly receive visits from Curriculum Specialists in drama, dance and music, who bring the renowned Juilliard approach to our students and performing arts teachers alike. An accomplished actor, director, and educator, Jen travelled all the way from New York to spend two unforgettable days with us in Pully and Nyon. Through workshops and demo lessons, she helped our students and teachers discover new modes of self-expression.
Then, at the beginning of December, we enjoyed three action-packed days with Juilliard Dance Curriculum Specialist Laura Careless. An experienced performer, choreographer and arts educator, Laura led demo lessons for our students in Nyon and Pully. For the first time, parents joined our 4th graders during their lesson, creating a wonderful moment for our families.
Laura also coached our performing arts teachers, sharing her insights and observations based on the Juilliard approach. As Laura has said,“One of our values at Juilliard is success for all. So, we are not trying to teach students a specific technique or style of dance. We are focusing on their creativity and the skills that help them to think, be and act as creative artistic people.”
Finally, we had the pleasure of welcoming Calmus Ensemble, one of Germany’s most renowned vocal groups. This dynamic quintet is acclaimed for their tonal colour, brilliant performances and wide repertoire, ranging from Renaissance, Baroque, and Romantic to contemporary works. At Champittet, Calmus Ensemble enchanted us all with a magical Christmas concert. The following day, the artists held a vocal workshop for our Women’s Choir, whose members include female employees and mothers of Champittet students. Sharing their tips on vocal technique and exercises, the ensemble then led our Children’s Choir into a short private concert. It was truly a privilege – and an unforgettable musical experience!
Boarding at Collège Champittet offers the opportunity to enjoy exceptional adventures not only in Switzerland, but also around the globe! Recently, a group of our boarding students travelled to Oman to spend an unforgettable two weeks immersed in culture and nature.
