WHY IS OUTDOOR EDUCATION IMPORTANT?

Collège Champittet’s Forest School curriculum invites children to exercise, explore, invent, initiate, and dream, as well as to concentrate, observe, marvel, listen, and work.

Our goal is for students to view learning as something that happens both inside and outside the classroom. By regularly taking children outdoors, we start to create a positive habit that’s an alternative to digital screens. Reconnecting with nature also brings many lifestyle and learning benefits. An outdoor education encourages calm, agility, better health, socialisation, cooperation, trust, autonomy, and creativity.

Spending time outdoors is not only playful; it also nurtures a child’s holistic development. From maths to science, nature is a place for learning, too. By observing, imitating, and discovering, using both their senses and their mind, our children develop a deep connection to the world around them.
