Global opportunities under one roof: students discover 100+ top universities at Champittet’s education fair

Global opportunities under one roof: students discover 100+ top universities at Champittet’s education fair - Global opportunities under one roof

The road to higher education is an exciting journey, and one essential step is to discover different universities and their programmes. In October, students and families had the opportunity to meet with representatives from more than 100 top universities from around the world – right here on our Pully campus.

University fair introduces students to leading schools in Europe, UK and USA

The vibrant fair enabled students to learn more options by speaking directly with university representatives. Institutions from more than a dozen countries attended the fair. As Jane Driscoll Himmelrich, Career and University Guidance Counsellor, said, “We are extremely fortunate to have a wide range of university representatives who visit Switzerland each year. It’s a great opportunity for students to be able to see such a variety under one roof.

From North America, we received visits from large established schools such as University of Toronto, UC Irvine and NYU, but also hidden gems like Drew University – a small liberal arts college near New York City. From the UK, around 40 leading universities attended the fair, including Cambridge University, UCL, Imperial College London, University of Edinburgh and University of St Andrews. Prestigious institutions from continental Europe were also well represented, such as Sciences Po, Esade and Erasmus University College. Of course, we were especially proud to host Swiss universities and universities of applied sciences such as USI, EHL and EPFL.

A valuable learning opportunity for university-bound students

University fairs are a wonderful way for students and families to learn more about different higher education options. For this reason, we opened the doors to our fair to students from other Swiss boarding schools and public schools. In total, we welcomed more than 300 attendees for a dynamic event, which benefitted students and universities alike.

Jane Driscoll Himmelrich observed, “Students take the event very seriously – many have thoughtful plans about who they would like to meet. It’s lovely to see them popping by my office with questions about the questions they are preparing for the representatives. We really see them taking advantage of the opportunity.

We will continue to support our students by providing more such opportunities, whether by hosting university representatives for specific workshops and activities throughout the year, or for large-scale events like the fair.
