Dear Families,
As the end of the school year approaches, we have an exciting schedule of events to share! We welcome you on campus to celebrate with us and especially encourage volunteers to support our Field Day on June 6th. If you’d like to volunteer please contact your class rep. Thank you for your continued support to enrich students’ experiences at CDS.
Have a great weekend!

Upcoming Events and Reminders
|
We’re excited for a day of team building, games, and physical fitness! Students can wear their favorite sports jersey and should pack an extra change of clothes to change into after our water activities. Students should bring a snack, lunch, water bottle, tennis shoes, hat, and sunscreen. Early childhood and first-grade students should bring or wear their bathing suits. We highly recommend putting sunscreen on your child before school. There will be breaks for water and refreshing snacks.
While MAP tests have concluded for the majority of students, we still have a few students who need to complete make-up testing next week. Once all students have completed their tests, you will be able to access your child’s MAP score report in iSAMS.
Thank you for all of the items that you’ve sent in for the STEAM Makerspace Donation Drive. As the drive continues, please keep in mind that we hope to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as possible! The school has ample new supplies for the Makerspace such as poster board, paint, markers, and plasticine, but welcome items that can be taken apart, repurposed, and used to create imaginative designs. Students will be using these materials to build prototypes and experiment with engineering ideas, items do not need to be new.
Reduce your clutter by sending old craft materials that won’t be used in your homes, such as extra yarn, leftover hot glue sticks, or fabric scraps.
Reuse the batteries from a remote that no longer works and the broken remote itself by providing the opportunity for a student to use them and create something new.
Recycle your plastic containers, lids, paper tubes, and cardboard boxes to be turned into building materials for our upcoming STEAM Hack Challenge.
During the week of May 23, students will have the option to participate in the Global Campus MIT Hack Challenge during the school day. This challenge is all about using engineering and artistic skills to turn inexpensive household materials and recyclables into something completely different- a superhero vehicle!
This week our Primary staff visited Texas Tech to engage in hands-on professional development. This was a great opportunity for our staff to start imagining the possibilities for collaboration which will include field trips, guest speakers, and professional development for our staff in the future.
