José Luis Menendez
High School Principal
Welcome back to High School! I’m excited for the second semester to begin and am looking forward to all the exciting things high school students will be embarking on in their classes and beyond.
This semester we welcome two new students who will be joining us at CDS this semester, Ms. Valentina Santorini and Ms. Mara Varga, both in 9th grade. Valentina is coming to us from the Panamerican School and Mara is rejoining the CDS community after spending 2.5 years in Panama at the Balboa School.
We have a busy week ahead of us as we begin the semester. Please read through the newsletter carefully.
The first week of school begins Monday and it is full of senior speeches and an assembly. Follow this link to see the schedule for the week. Note that on Monday, you will briefly meet with your Advisor to check in with them before going to your next class.
Raising Corals joins us once again to give us an update on the work they have done over the past year since their last visit with them. The HS will have an assembly on Wednesday before lunch to hear from the RC team!
Congratulations go out to Jacobo Guzowski and Mingfei Lei for being selected to represent CDS in the 2020 Nord Anglia Unicef Summit to be held in New York City this summer. They will join students from Nord Anglia students from around the world in a unique Unicef Summit exclusively for Nord Anglia students.
Congratulations to Niko Cortes whose entry for the Creative Writing Competition has been selected to be sent to NAE for the next level of competition to compete against HS students from 66 NAE schools!
CDS will have sign-ups for students interested in playing in Tennis in the MS and HS offices from January 13-31. Students interested will then use the month of February to determine who will be selected to represent CDS at the AASCA tournament playing twice a week at Hacienda Espinal. CDS can only take three boys and three girls in Middle School (ages 14 and under) and High School (ages 15-19). Students interested should already know how to play tennis including knowledge of the rules, as the “practice” for the tournament will only be to determine the top three seeds within each category.
