Kindness is probably one of the most important personality traits. When you are kind to someone, it also makes you feel happy yourself. The children participated in Friendship Week by celebrating their friendships this week. But being kind, being polite and being grateful is something the children in Early Years are encouraged to be every day. The children in F1, F2 and F3 have talked about how they can help a friend, what makes a good friend and what they can do at home to be kind to their family.
As part of ‘Friendship’ and ‘Anti-Bullying’ week, Year 2 linked up with Year 5 to discuss ways we can show kindness to others. Both classes enjoyed meeting and showed great communication skills and teamwork in creating a ‘kindness chain’. It was a lovely and meaningful event in which they shared great ideas about how we can make our school an even kinder place.
Years 3 and 6 had a fantastic time working together. They discussed what it means to be a good friend and came up with some ideas together. Each student chose a buddy to work with and then used their discussion ideas to make a huge paper chain. The classes now have a beautiful decoration each, which are hanging on the classroom doors! They were looking forward to some more activities together later in the week.
5 ways to wellbeing- Keep learning!
Learning new things is a great way to meet new people and boost our self-confidence, which, in turn, improves our mental health and well-being. Every Wednesday morning in Year 1, the children spend time participating in various activities to acquire new skills. One of their favourite activities is using QR Codes. The children collaborate with a friend to scan the QR codes and listen to stories from different authors. They also scan the QR codes to learn vocabulary by completing the matching game.
The students of Y4 have been learning about ‘food miles’ which means where foods come from, how far different ingredients travel before they arrive on their plates. They have also been comparing the differences between intensive and traditional farming.
During Vietnamese class, Year 5 collaborated in pairs to learn new vocabulary in biographical texts.

Year 10 had an amazing "Skype the Scientist" experience during their science lesson last week. They connected with a passionate zoologist from Singapore Zoo to learn about conservation and global breeding programs in zoos. The students asked him lots of brilliant questions about his work and were hopefully inspired to become the next generation of wildlife warriors!
Well done to all the students who successfully completed the Silver practice Duke of Edinburgh trip to Ninh Binh, where they embarked on a mountain biking adventure. Throughout the trip, they demonstrated remarkable determination, strength, and perseverance. Additionally, their support for their team mates was truly commendable. Well done to everyone involved for showcasing such admirable qualities during this challenging and rewarding expedition. They will now be preparing for their Silver Assessed expedition in Mai Chau in January.
