Just a reminder that we are still accepting registration for the upcoming summer school starting in June. I hope many of you will be able to join us. We will have teachers from BVIS and BIS leading the program.

100% in the Early Years

Did you know that 100% of our Early Years teachers are well-qualified Early Years specialists, and in the recent parent satisfaction survey, 100% of parents say their children are safe?

Being adventurous

Being adventurous in the Early Years means trying new things, developing resilience and becoming confident at facing new challenges. This week, the new challenges were across all classes. F1 were learning new English vocabulary all about keeping healthy, F2 went on their first walk to the Senior School to buy treats from the Joma cafe and F3 had a new mathematical concept to learn using frames to 10.

Skills of Independence and Community Growth

Last week, the children in Year 1 took a trip to the local shop. During English lessons, the children created lists of items they needed from the shops to create healthy pizzas. Year 1, then used these lists to buy the items and make the pizzas. This was a great experience for the children as they combined their learning with independence skills and community growth. Throughout the process, the children spoke about food waste and sustainability to ensure that they were making smart, healthy choices in the shop to reduce waste.

It encourages creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, while deepening their understanding of science and storytelling through an engaging, real-world application of their learning.

Talking of storytelling, did you know that 100% of our students get public speaking opportunities?

Ancient Rome

This week the Year 5 children completed their Exit Point for this unit - we were really proud of the work they shared and how confidently they presented it to the parents! We watched the stop-motion animations they had made in groups, listened to the poems they wrote, and explored some models of ancient Roman artefacts. Finally, we did a quiz and the parents chose the answers from the learning we had shared.

Student-Led Service Learning

Service-learning ECA always have a profound positive impact on students by fostering empathy, social responsibility, and community engagement. These experiences enhance personal growth, allowing students to connect with local communities and fostering sense of helping people in need.

Last Friday, our Service learning ECA students organised a visit to K Hospital Tan Trieu. At the hospital, Year 12 and Year 9 students engaged in conversations with the families of young patients to gain insight about the challenges, the emotional and psychological impacts of their situations on both the patients and their families. We also had the opportunity to distribute fifty goody bags filled with essential items, including hygiene products, books, colored pencils, and art supplies. It was heartwarming to see the sparks of joy in people's eyes during the visit, as we extended our best wishes to the patients and their families.

This experience was not only about building empathy and learning to appreciate the strength and resilience required to confront such adversities, but it also helped our students develop a desire to help others, encouraging them to be kind, supportive, and compassionate.

Supporting Year 11 Through Walking Talking Mocks

In preparation for their upcoming examinations, our Year 11 students have been taking part in weekly walking talking mocks across all three science subjects. These sessions are designed to build exam confidence and reinforce key skills by guiding our students through past paper questions in real time.

Led by different members of the science department each week, the walking talking mocks simulate exam conditions while allowing teachers to talk students through how to approach each question effectively. Our science teachers model how to interpret command words, identify where marks are awarded, and structure answers to maximise success.

This collaborative approach ensures students are exposed to a range of teaching styles and subject expertise, and that every session offers a comprehensive and supportive walkthrough of vital exam strategies.

We are proud of the commitment our Year 11 students have shown during these sessions, and we will continue to support them with tailored guidance as they work towards their final exams.

Fun in Y13 Lessons

Year 13 students have been engaging in an interactive review session to reinforce their understanding of key terminology related to computer systems. They played a game of Taboo, where students take turns describing specific terms without using certain forbidden words. This not only helped them recall important concepts but also encouraged teamwork and communication as they worked together to guess the terms.
