We are delighted to share that The British School of Tashkent (BST) has been honoured with a CSR Award by AmCham Uzbekistan for our Walk All Over Cancer campaign. The award was presented at the 3rd Annual AmCham CSR Ball on 15th November 2024, which brought together over 270 attendees.
WALK ALL OVER CANCER INITIATIVE
Our Walk All Over Cancer initiative was started by our teaching staff a few years ago to honour a previous Principal. The award was accepted on behalf of the school by Lindi Vosloo, the school’s Social Impact Committee lead.
The Walk All Over Cancer campaign is an annual school initiative designed to promote cancer awareness, healthy living, and community involvement. The month-long campaign featured a variety of activities, including walking collectively to ‘the moon and back’. Guest speakers from Tashkent International Clinic also gave guest lectures to parents, while the school’s counsellor highlighted the role of mental health in recovery. Sixth Form students also played an active role, delivering peer-led presentations in assemblies to inspire and educate younger students. The event raised funds for the Ezgu Amal Charity Foundation.
OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH UNICEF AND OUR SOCIAL IMPACT COMMITTEE
As a proud member of the Nord Anglia Education family, our collaboration with UNICEF inspires and empowers our students to consider how they can make a difference both locally and globally. This is where our Social Impact Committee comes in, which provides students with hands-on opportunities to engage with real-world challenges. By tackling pressing community issues, our students learn how to drive meaningful change both individually and as part of larger teams. These experiences foster resilience, teamwork, and innovative thinking - essential skills for thriving in the future workplace.
Dr. Andre Nel, Principal of BST, praised the school's Social Impact Committee for their outstanding work:
"The Social Impact Committee has done amazing work over the years, and I want to thank everyone who has supported their efforts. When it comes to charity events, they consistently go above and beyond."
CELEBRATING EXCEPTIONAL INITIATIVES FROM MANY OF UZBEKISTAN’S LEADING ORGANISATIONS
We are especially proud to have partnered with AmCham Uzbekistan, whose CSR Ball celebrated exceptional initiatives from companies such as Korzinka, Beeline, Coca-Cola, and Artel. Our own Director of Admissions and Marketing, Connie Jones, as Co-Chair of AmCham’s CSR Education Committee, also presented awards to other winners at the event.
Thank you to AmCham Uzbekistan and to everyone who has supported our Walk All Over Cancer campaign.
