Successful External Exam Collaboration between Nord Anglia Schools

bst
The British School of Tashkent (BST) has opened its campus to nearly 80 students from The International School of Moscow (ISM) who are undertaking their crucial IGCSE, AS and A-Level examinations. Ranging from Year 11 to Year 13, the school found itself facing an unexpected challenge after the withdrawal of exam boards from the country.

THE BENEFITS OF THE NORD ANGLIA EDUCATION NETWORK

Arriving at the end of April and set to stay until the middle of June, students have found a temporary academic home away from home in Tashkent. There are 42 staff members from ISM who are all voluntarily supporting the students with the experience.

The collaboration speaks volumes about the benefits of being part of Nord Anglia Education. With over 86 schools worldwide, Nord Anglia Education is not just a network of educational institutions; it's a global family committed to ensuring every student receives the best possible education, regardless of their location and the challenges they face.

The British School of Tashkent was, in part, chosen for this collaboration due to its outstanding track record of top examination results. An education at the school opens pathways to some of the world’s best universities, with 92% of all students gaining entry to their first-choice university. Over the past three years, 60% of all A-Level grades were A and A* - far exceeding the UK average of 26%.

PLACING STUDENTS AT THE FOREFRONT OF ALL DECISION MAKING

Principal at ISM, Chris Charlton emphasised the monumental effort involved in orchestrating this cross-school collaboration, "The British School of Tashkent has been an incredible support for our school and there are no words that can possibly describe what they have done for us. The two schools have been working on this project since September and the whole process has been smooth, well organised has always placed the students at the forefront of all decision making.”

Chris Charlton continued, “From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank Dr. Andre Nel and his whole team for their advice, assistance and positive approach in ensuring that our 79 students can take their exams.”

AN OUTSTANDING DISPLAY OF FLEXIBILITY, RESILIENCE AND ADAPTABILITY

Dr Andre Nel, Principal at BST commented, “We are happy to assist our sister school in Moscow in getting their senior students to Tashkent to write their external GCSE and A-Level exams on our junior campus. It took months of preparation, emails, and visits but in the end, things ran very smoothly. Staff and students from both schools have been brilliant by being flexible, resilient, and adaptable.

”The British School of Tashkent offers a wide range of subjects and our curricula stretches students both personally and academically, encouraging them to be ambitious, think critically, and become leaders. It’s an education that takes our students to some of the world’s top universities.
