Sasha makes the podium again at MSS Malaysia Track and field championship
Sasha, Year 11 who has previously represented the state of Selangor at National level meets once again represented the state at this years National track and field championship for students (MSSM), in the under 18 age category for discus and javelin.
Sasha won the silver medal with a throw of 38.98 metres falling short of Gold by just slightly over 80 cm. With this Sasha who turns 16 this year, is now ranked number 2 in the under 18 age category and number 3 in the under 21 age category (from her performance at SUKMA 24) for the discus event across the whole of Malaysia.
Sasha also qualified for the finals in the Under 18 javelin event where she finished 7th which further solidified her standing as one of the top upcoming young throwers in Malaysia.
MSSM Malaysia ( Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia ) is the pinnacle event for multiple sports disciplines including athletics amongst school students in Malaysia. The athletes who compete at this level have to go through a highly competitive two step qualifying process, first at their district level and then at their respective state level. Only the very best athletes in various age categories across the whole country get a shot at glory at the MSSM games. This years games hosted by the state of Perak saw more than 1000 athletes from the 16 states and the federal territories of Malaysia, compete for the title of being amongst the best in the country in their chosen sport and age category.
