After completing her master’s degree in Textile Science, Riette’s journey took her to the United Kingdom, where she resided for 2 and a half years. During this time, she found herself working as a care worker, tending to the needs of an elderly lady. This experience ignited a passion for working with people that would shape her future.
Hailing from a family deeply rooted in the world of education, the path of teaching seemed like a natural choice upon her return to South Africa. For a decade, she dedicated herself to teaching in the vibrant city of Cape Town, imparting knowledge and values to eager young minds.
However, life had more adventures in store for Riette. The opportunity arose to embark on a new chapter in China, and for the past six years, she has called Guangzhou her home. Here, she has taken on the role of an educator once again, guiding students from the tender age of 4 up to the challenges of grade 3.
Today, Riette is thrilled to be a part of the Primary team at our exceptional BSG campus. Within her classroom, her primary aim is to foster a safe, nurturing environment where students can confidently learn and grow. Witnessing the magical process of students making connections and developing their senses, emotions and thoughts fills her with immense joy.
When she is not in the classroom, she finds joy in exploring the vibrant city of Guangzhou. Her creative spirit finds its outlet in sewing and crafting soft toys, bags and clothing. Furthermore, her love for China extends beyond its urban landscape, as she takes delight in visiting the serene temples and breathtaking natural landscapes scattered across this vast and diverse land.
