ASAs for Year 1 - 3 will operate in a carousel format that they will change every 3 weeks. The students will experience a variety of activities to develop their skills and broaden their horizons about possible passions and interests. This gives the students opportunity to try different activities, learn new skills and have fun.

From Year 4 upwards, students who have participated in each of the four areas of (1) being creative, (2) being active, (3) contributing service, and (4) being academic throughout the year in their ASAs will receive the CASA Award Certificate. Sports teams
Our sports teams follow the local sports seasons across all Guangzhou schools, and we typically organise a mix of training sessions and inter-school sports fixtures after school on Fridays by collaborating with other schools. We encourage our students to join try-outs for each sport team’s season, appropriate to their age group and performance selections based upon their aptitude and ability. Some of our sports teams also have ‘development squads’ for students who have a strong interest in building their skills but are unable to be offered a spot on the ‘first team’.

FURTHER PRACTICE AND ENRICHMENT THROUGH ACADEMIES
Your child can participate in additional optional, enrichment activities known as ‘academies’ led by BSG teachers (or highly qualified external providers) after ASAs occur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays or on Saturday mornings – outside normal school hours.

FURTHER PRACTICE AND ENRICHMENT THROUGH ACADEMIES
Popular academies include the Cambridge English EAL, other language development programmes, or additional activities in STEAM, the arts, or sports that can boost your child’s abilities and give them further time to practice or hone their skills beyond class time.

We often add new academies each term, depending on the availability of external providers. There’s a small fee per term to participate.

OUR SUPPORTIVE PARENT COMMUNITY

Get active in our parent community! There are many ways to contribute to our school, to get to know other families, and to meaningfully help our school be as wonderful as possible.

COMMUNITY FEEDBACK AND INVOLVEMENT
We keep an ‘open door’ policy at BSG, where we encourage feedback, discussion, and communication with parents to ensure we’re doing our best. This has helped us gain a strong reputation in the community. We have structured opportunities to help us maintain a strong school-home partnership.

PARENT SUPPORT GROUP
Parent Support Groups (PSGs) are parent volunteers who get involved with school life through charity work and other helpful initiatives. Parent Representatives (Reps) help their child’s class teacher share information with other parents in the class, among other things that support their child’s class.
