Teacher of EAL
Leanne-Rees

Leanne is a passionate, enthusiastic, and caring educator whose exciting journey in education began in South Africa after acquiring her PGCE through the University of South Africa in 2013. Over the last 10 years she’s gained immeasurable experience in EAL, Early Years and Primary, having had the privilege to work in some of the top international schools in both Vietnam and China. The educational philosophy she follows focuses largely on the development of the whole child which is achieved not only through facilitating learning from an academic view but also by being acutely aware of the individual emotional, social and physical needs of each of each of her students.

In order to inspire and engage learners it is of great importance to her to build trust and foster authentic interpersonal relationships. By taking the time to get to know the unique personalities and varied interests of her students she is able to foster genuine points of connection with them. She believes that this can positively impact a student’s interest in and love of learning and assist them in achieving not only their academic goals but their extra-curricular and personal goals as well.

Having recently returned to China, Leanne is delighted to call Guangzhou her home and is joined here by her husband Bradley. Together they enjoy exploring different places and share a love of indulging in local and traditional cuisines, always willing to try new things. Leanne can often be found in the kitchen baking and cooking and likes to use her free time to settle down with a good book.Leanne believes that a school is about community and the parents, children, teachers and various support staff that make up that community. She looks forward to using her professional and interpersonal skills to build relationships and make a positive and lasting impact within the BSG community.
