Hannah Palmer

Mathematics Teacher
Hannah-Palmer

Originally from the UK, Hannah has been living in Guangzhou, China, for the past seven years, accompanied by her nine-year-old daughter, Ella. From an early age, Hannah's passion for mathematics has been evident. Even as a student, she found joy in helping her peers with their math homework and guiding them through challenging topics. This passion and dedication ultimately led her to become a math teacher.

Hannah's curiosity and drive to understand the principles behind mathematical concepts have shaped her teaching philosophy. She firmly believes that students should experience the wonder of mathematics by discovering concepts for themselves. Witnessing that "click" moment when a concept becomes clear or solving a complex problem brings a sense of achievement, which she strives to foster in her students. Hannah pursued a degree in mathematics, where her enthusiasm for the subject continued to grow. She delved deeper into mathematical techniques and theory, which she now actively encourages her students to explore. Her dedication and excellence in her studies were recognized when she received the 'Leslie Walshaw' award for achieving the highest score in her cohort of students.

As a UK math teacher, Hannah has taught students of various ages and abilities. She has supported students who find mathematics challenging, providing them with the confidence and skills they need to believe in themselves and succeed in math. She has also taught A-level classes and higher ability students, extending their learning by guiding them through Further Mathematics courses. In addition to her teaching role, Hannah has worked as a curriculum coordinator during her time in China. She has been involved in mapping curriculum content and implementing inquiry-based, concept-driven learning. This approach has enriched students' learning experiences, fostering their ability to be active, lifelong learners who can apply their knowledge in practical ways. Hannah is excited to bring her years of experience and passion for mathematics and to collaborate with the exceptional group of teachers and students at BSG. Her goal is to help each student achieve their fullest potential and develop the same love for mathematics that she holds dear.
