Erwin Frijling

Deputy Head of Science
Erwin-Frijling

Erwin is a highly experienced scientist who has committed his life to spreading his knowledge and inspiring people for the subjects of science. With a background in laboratory skills practice and specialisation in chemistry, he aspires to share his knowledge and motivate new scientists at the start of their careers.

Erwin holds a Bachelor in Bio-Medical Science and is nearing the end of his Masters in Education program. With his broad field experience as well as his passion for science teaching, he enjoys engaging students in learning the fundamentals of science subjects.

He obtained his initial experience in education after graduating by working as a practical teacher at the University of Stenden but decided to broaden his experience further by pursuing scientific research, which provided him with substantial field experience. Erwin worked in a variety of scientific sectors, including polymer research, medicines, an Antarctic expedition to study the impact of climate change on algae, and eventually developing bio-medical detection technologies. Erwin was always somehow tied to education during his extended field career since he loves to engage students' knowledge of science subjects' ideas, which eventually brought him back to education.

For nearly six years, three of them at BSG, Erwin has been teaching in China. His love of education inspires him to help all students reach their greatest potential, and he knows how to challenge students to be curious and take risks while learning. His focus is to improve students' comprehension of scientific inquiry by assisting them in visualizing science as a process of asking questions about phenomena, conducting investigations to answer those questions, and developing evidence-based explanations. The BSG values of ''be ambitious'' and "lifelong learning" perfectly match his teaching and feed his desires.
