Stephanie Hacon

Reception Teacher
Stephanie-Hacon

BA, PGCE

Stephanie received her BA in Mandarin and History of Art/Archaeology from SOAS, University of London and a PGCEi from Nottingham University, UK. In 2017 with the imminent arrival of her son, Sebastian, she began delving into books about raising and communicating with children. What she learnt soon drove me to leave my former career in the Art world and dive into the world of Education. Since then, she has several years of experience teaaching Early Years students at international schools in Beijing and was thrilled to join the BSB EYFS team in August 2021.

As an educator, Stephanie sees that it's her role to demonstrate that learning is a two-way road. The children will be as much her guide as she will be theirs. Equally, she is a strong believer that a sense of humour is a key ingredient to building relationships within the classroom. Her goal is to foster trust, encourage independent thinking, and to accompany the children in exploring new territories and embarking on adventures together.

Stephanie met her husband whilst on her year abroad in Beijing studying at the Beijing Normal University. After graduating, she moved directly to Beijing - this was almost ten years ago! Since then, they had a son, Sebastian, who is also studying at BSB. They enjoy living in Shunyi and taking advantage of its location. It’s proximity to the mountains and nature make it a wonderful area for exploring. As a family, they are partial to trying new foods as well as listening to music from all over the world.
