BA, TESOL, iPGCE
Cala has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Beijing Language and Culture University in Chinese and Japanese Bilingual Studies. She also has 5 Cambridge TKTs, modules 1 to 3 plus Early Years and CLIL, as well as a 120 hour TESOL certificate. She completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Education iPGCE from the University of Derby.
Throughout university and even before starting university, Cala did a lot of part time tutoring for early years' children which gave her informal but essential experience in teaching young children. After graduation she worked for EF, teaching classes of various ages between 3-14 years old, for two and a half years up until she had her daughter, and then she focused on family life for a year. Since September 2020 she worked for another international kindergarten as a Homeroom teacher for one academic year.
Cala took the decision to come to BSB Shunyi in 2021 as the quality of teaching and learning has always been incredibly well known here. She is very passionate, caring and loves to share knowledge and make people smile! She has a keen interest in Asian languages, music and animals. She has lived in Beijing for over 11 years and loves the culture, people and the food here and considers Beijing to be a second home. She has been with BSB for over 3 years and aspires to continue growing in her teaching career and abilities.
