Melanie brings a strong foundation in Science and a passion for education to BSB Shunyi. Having graduated from the Open University, UK with a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, Melanie initially pursued a career in healthcare as a medical secretary. A desire to share her knowledge and ignite a love of science in others led Melanie to embark on a new path in education.
She completed a Master of Art in Education at Wrexham University, UK, followed by an iPGCE at the University of Derby, UK, to gain her teaching qualifications. Melanie's teaching experience began with English as a Foreign Language, utilising her TEFL certificate. However, her passion for Science ultimately led her to transition into a rewarding career as a Science teacher where she has had the opportunity to support and encourage a range of age groups in their learning.
Melanie's decision to join BSB Shunyi was driven by the school's reputation for academic excellence and its commitment to fostering a vibrant and inclusive learning environment. She is excited about the opportunity to inspire the next generation of scientists at BSB Shunyi.
Outside of the classroom, Melanie embraces her creative side through arts and crafts. This passion extends to her desire to provide extracurricular activities for students, believing these experiences are vital for developing social skills and self-expression. Joining BSB Shunyi isn't just a career move for Melanie; it's a family adventure. Together with her husband, a fellow BSB teacher, they're excited to embark on this new chapter with their two children.
