BA, TESOL
Jacquetta obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2013. Before graduating, she developed an interest in education through my classwork with the Auckland Art Museum, where she wrote lesson plans for field trips and her work as a clarinet and music tutor for kids who couldn't afford music lessons. After graduating from university, she was granted a scholarship to teach ESL in rural South Korea by the Ministry of Education. After teaching in South Korea for almost two years, she came to Beijing, China in 2015. She spent her first five years teaching ESL in training centers to students ages 3 to 18. During this time, she completed her Certificate in TESOL through Trinity College of London. She also took several teaching knowledge tests through Cambridge in various subject areas such as young learners and content and language integrated learning.
BSB Shunyi is Jaquetta's second international school placement in China. Prior to joining BSB in 2022, she has already taught in all subject areas to Years 2 and 3 at an international bilingual school for three years. As a teacher, BSB Shunyi appeals to Jaquetta for its high quality of teaching and learning. She loves putting smiles on her students' faces and teaching them to love learning. As she continues her teaching career at BSB, she aspires to grow in teaching ability and meet her educational and professional goals.
Jacquetta loves playing music since she was little. She played classical and jazz clarinet for about 15 years, and has also taught herself to play Ukulele as a hobby during university. Aside from music, she loves cooking, baking, and traveling. She is known for baking treats like macarons, cupcakes, and brownies and sharing them with friends. She also loves visiting new places and experiencing the culture and the food.
