Immy Page is delighted to be joining BSB Shunyi in August 2024 as a Year 5 teacher. Having lived and worked in Beijing previously, he is excited at the prospect of teaching and nurturing inquisitive minds.
He has a passion for writing and holds a BA Hons in Journalism from the University of Brighton in the UK. After his studies, he discovered his passion for working with and educating children. His career began in the USA, where he taught a range of sports and subjects to children. Upon returning to London, he worked as a teaching assistant in various schools, gaining an invaluable insight into how many schools operate.
Continuing his own academic journey in London, Immy completed his teacher training with the Univeristy of Kingston, obtaining his Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). He has gained valuable experience teaching across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
His international teaching journey has taken him to Egypt, China and Thailand, thus allowing him to teach across all year groups and embrace diverse cultural environments. In his most recent role, Immy was Year Lead Teacher and Computing Lead. He felt it was a fantastic experience to be able to influence change and drive standards. His teaching philosophy is centered on a values-based approach by educating the whole child. Watching students grow and develop is the most rewarding aspect of his job, and he takes great pride in seeing happy, hardworking and enthusiastic students.
Immy believes in lifelong learning and is constantly inspired by the nuggets of wisdom his students share. His teaching philosophy centers on collaborative learning; he encourages plenty of partner and group work in his class, fostering an environment where students teach and learn from one another. He enjoys incorporating games and challenges into his lessons, often engaging in mini-competitions that require teamwork to make learning fun and dynamic.
Outside of the classroom, Immy loves staying active and motivating others to do the same. Keeping fit allows him to set and achieve personal challenges, whilst he regularly seeks out new training methods to put him outside of his comfort zone. Football is another passion of his and he is a dedicated supporter of Liverpool FC. Additionally, he is deeply mindful about sustainability and is constantly seeking new information on the subject.
In his leisure time, Immy enjoys movies, books, and tackling quiz questions based on films. He is excited to bring his enthusiasm and diverse experiences to BSB Shunyi and looks forward to a fantastic year ahead with his students in Year 5!
