BSc, LLB, PGCE
Gareth has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Applied Chemistry from University of Cape Town. He also has a Bachelor of Law from University of South Africa and received his PGCE from Mancosa, South Africa.
He originally studied patent law but started teaching because he wanted to find something more fulfilling. He taught English as a Second Language on four continents before returning to South Africa to teach his first love, which is Chemistry. Before joining BSB Shunyi in August 2024, he taught MYP Physical Science and DP Chemistry at an international school in Cape Town.
Gareth is a passionate teacher and loves being in the classroom. He is results-focused and loves to watch his students develop and grow. He is a practically minded teacher who enjoys problem-solving and identifying the essential information in a course. Gareth came to BSB Shunyi to meet like-minded professionals who are striving to be the best teachers that they can be.
Gareth is an easy-going personality with a good sense of humour. In his free time he loves exploring new places, trying new foods and cooking. He also tries to stay in shape by going to the gym and running.
